Great source for studying for the praxis
I received my Master’s Degree in History 20 years ago and life has finally led me back to my education. In order to teach I had to take the Praxis. I haven’t done anything in History for almost 20 years and I gave myself three weeks to study. This book really helped me focus and it is a great review. I passed the Praxis on the first go and I’d like to say it’s becasue I’m smart, but I know it’s actually because I studied my tail off for it using this book and other resources. I skipped the last part of the book about test anxiety and preparedness, but I did take the exam the book provided. It really let me see where I was lacking and what I needed to study up on. Highly recommend.

This book is worth the money. It is small but mighty!
The book gives you access to helpful videos if you think there may be something missing from the text, but I find the text to be concise enough to give you the information needed to pass the test!

Very precise information!!
I'm very impressed with the precise information that is in this study guide! I have taken this exam once before and didn't pass it after studying on my own. I purchased this study guide to help me pass when I take it again in a few weeks. The information in this study guide is exactly what is on the test, and I plan on passing with flying colors this time!

I like the short concise overview of the various events and cultures in each section. Many times I just need to jog my memory and the small amount of information does just that.So the book is great but the other resources still needs some work.

The presentations are educational and enjoyable to watch.
I have previewed the Videos through the Egyptian Period, I am very impressed and I am actually enjoying studying for this PRAXIS II. Something, I could definitely say to the one I took prior to this one. I see that with the different teachers and presentations that there is quite a bit of discrepancy between instructional techniques. As a thirty year, educational veteran teacher and administrator, I feel you are definitely on the right track. Implementing some new technology and some individual interaction for reinforcement learning would be beneficial and interest building.

useful, & clear information on the subject matter
The flashcards have succinct, useful, & clear information on the subject matter. The dates that are listed on the cards are very useful in organizing the information for efficient studying.

Great test support and content
I was really surprised that it helped me out on the Praxis as much as it did. I would highly recommend this Study Guide book if you are in the process of taking the Praxis II World History and US History Exam. I definitely will buy Mometrix when I have to study for other exams.

I've always felt that if I were able to bring a study guide into a test with me I should be able to get 100% on the test if it's
When I think of a study guide I don't think of this. Also when "secrets" is on the cover in the biggest font of any other word you might think there's some insight into the actual PRAXIS test (as in how many questions tend to focus on U.S. vs World History? Are there sections? Are specific dates as important as chronology? etc...) but there's absolutely no hint of that whatsoever.I'd also consider this more of an outline than a study guide. I've always felt that if I were able to bring a study guide into a test with me I should be able to get 100% on the test if it's a good study guide. At first I felt like "this is great! the test is going to be very broad and general and not focus on dates" then I took the practice test in the book and found that the vast majority of the questions are very detailed and focused on specifics. For example, not once in the book does it mention the Mongols, but there are test questions about them ( which civilization used yerts and gers?...well I don't know because it's not in the study guide and I can't remember three years ago when I took world civ 2 if this was even mentioned). If it's important enough to be on a practice test I just don't understand how it doesn't make it's way into the actual study guide. When I say the study guide is very broad I mean when covering Egypt there's no mention of a single Pharaoh, God, or significant event in Egyptian history. The video link they send you to is just a review of what's in the study guide. So basically all that shows up in the study guide about ancient Egypt's vast history is that it was by the Nile, they used irrigation techniques when the nile flooded, built pyramids, and used hieroglyphs... so it's a little more informative than the cartoon Prince of Egypt but just because they don't show irrigation techniques in that movie.Again, if that's as detailed as the test is then fine I'd rather have it be short and not waste any of my time. The problem is the practice tests aren't like this at all. I emailed them and asked if I was missing some pages or something and they just told me it's a study guide not a text book. I was expecting a study guide but this is an outline at best which means you have to go google every topic that shows up in this book and hope you focus on the right things. If you use it this way I'm sure it would help you on the PRAXIS to a degree, but don't waste your money. If you go to http://www.flowofhistory.com/units/full this is more detailed and free for you to make your own compressed study guide out of since all this book is is a "study guide" to help you write your own study guide.
