Manhood: A Journey from Childhood into the Fierce Order of Virility

Although I'm not a huge fan of philosophy, Manhood is a page turner. Leiris autobiographical account of his life is delightfully disturbing.

I think the title is misleading as I didn't see anything fierce or courageous in this order of manhood. I thought the author, a man, wasweak and self-absorbed. In that sense this book was a disappointment. What was fascinating and excellent was the use of the paintings of two women to contrast the differences in female sexuality.
