Good, rugged speaker- Good value
I have installed this with an Abrams siren and am very pleased with the result. Have purchased a second siren controller and speaker for our Chief's personal vehicle.

A solid Unit, but...
This is a heavy duty, well constructed unit - but.. Here is my findings from some personal research (trial & error). Last year I purchased a 100 watt siren amplifier & light control unit from online. I initially wanted it to control a light bar and strobes which the unit did flawlessly. After I got the lights working well I thought I would try the sound portion of the unit. The only thing I had remotely related to a "siren horn" was a very old 50 watt PA speaker that had been buried in a cabinet for years. I hooked it up - the sound & loudness was absolutely amazing - I could ask for no more in performance. So thinking that if this unit is this loud, how loud are one of the siren units that are actually designed for this.I painted the old PA speaker an ugly flat black and mounted it on the frame of my Ford Expedition next to the spare tire. Why here? It helps to "alert" folks that are getting a little too close for comfort on my rear bumper (yes, I pretty much stay in the right lane unless I need to pass). So I ordered a similar speaker to the one I'm reviewing now and on receipt carefully mounted it in the front grill area. The sound was so dismal I returned the unit as defective - that's when I ordered this unit. Once again, sound was disappointing - not even half as loud as the old PA in the back. The circuit is the same for both units - a toggle unit switches output from rear to front. So I got an idea. Again, I returned the unit but did not list it as defective, as it was not. This time, for grins, I order a 50 watt PA 6" speaker/horn (for a third of the cost). It came in today and I anxiously went out and hooked it up to the existing circuit - I GOT LOUD AGAIN!. The horn is loud and the siren is disturbingly loud (which, by the way, I do not use). The specific product is a Pyle PHSP4 6" indoor/outdoor PA Horn/Speaker and currently sells for $22.45 on Amazon. Spend the big bucks if you must but this unit does the job as far as I'm concerned. Just remember, you do need a good 100 watt amp to drive the big noise - Amazon has lots of them. I think I paid around a $100 for mine but you may find as good a unit cheaper.

So glad I didn't get the Whelen speaker!!!
I purchased the Whelen power airhorn which is great, but it was killing me thinking I'd have to spend $180 on the speaker. An acquaintance with a Dodge truck has this set up and it sounds great. He told me to make sure I get the Whelen speaker. I almost did but then saw this. I was very nervous because some reviewers stated that this wasn't loud enough with the Whelen air horn amp. I figured I'd try it and just return it if I wasn't happy. Well, i couldn't be happier. This speaker is awesome. Loud!!! I don't know why other people had a problem with it. Maybe the wiring was wrong or they used a bad switch. I wired it properly with quality wire and connectors, shrink tubing, etc... Came out great. Compared it to the guy up at the shop with the Ram pick up. It sounded exactly the same. And just as loud. You could not tell the difference. He couldn't believe I paid $50 for the speaker. Now I've only had it in for a few days so I can't speak to long term reliability. But the build quality of this is great. Solidly put together and heavy. Bolted to a cross member behind front bumper and it stayed strong and study with the attached mount. Can't say enough good things about this and I saved a ton of money. Put your doubts aside. This speaker works great.

Works Great Looks solid.
I used this speaker in conjunction with a siren to produce the "horn blast sound" function of the siren on my classic pickup truck. This speaker appears to have the same quality and weight to it that the speaker the siren company offers. I have another truck that the speaker AND Siren came directly from the siren maker. There was a big difference in cost so I elected to take a chance here and not purchase the speaker from the siren maker. I the shape is different from my other speaker but that unit is 8 years old and I dont know if the shape had changed from them also as compared to what they offered 8 years ago....I would guess that this speaker I purchased IS PROBABLY the exact same as what the siren company is using and that they had Abrams private labeled them to make their unit complete. Bottom line it works great has nice quality.

Biggest bang for the buck.
Mounted on a 2013 Harley Ultra Limited. The secret is to use the Whelen Harley amplifier mount, but reverse it and use it on the RIGHT side of the bike. This moves the speaker within the area surrounded by the bag front roll bar. The whole thing blends right into the bike. You will actually miss it at first glance, it blends that well. Drilled the speaker back and bolted it to the siren mount, this will definitely void the warranty, but it looks amazingly stock. The speaker suffered no ill effects from a couple of holes in the back plate. Performance is spot on, siren volume at close range is painfully loud. It is being used for an air horn only with an old Federal amp, air horn function also good, not quite as loud as the siren tones, but it is probably just the nature of the old amp. Unit well built and very compact, cannot be beat for the price. Perfect fit for a Harley.
