A couple of dental professionals I have been to see recently have been taking picture after picture of my open mouth. Very different from what I am used to--just x-rays.When this book came up on Amazon Vine I thought I might learn something interesting about dental photography. Honestly, this book is way too specialized for me. Looking at pictures is about all I am qualified to do. The pictures are beautifully done and amazing as they should be--even though not all the teeth are great to look at.A very useful book for a dental student who is interested in photography or is required to be interested in photography.

The quality of the book and content are good.Great quality pictures and plenty throughout the book to reference. Covers many different topics such as exploring the differences, yet relevance, of the marketing/promotional images vs. clinical photography used for diagnostic/treatment purposes. Other areas such as using optical properties, opalescence and fluorescence, and special lighting (UV and Fibre-Optic illumination, for example) for visualization. Finally, processing, exporting, managing and using the images.

Capable photography in your dental practice is essential. After reading and studying this erudite tome, you might not be the next Ansel Adams or Walker Evans... much less Robert Frank or Henri Cartier-Bresson... but I guarantee you'll be better at taking pictures than Aunt Matilda!All kidding aside. Capable dental photography is not a joke. It is vital.. This book? Vital, also.Five stars.
