Lonely Planet Zion & Bryce Canyon National Parks (National Parks Guide)

Useful but strangely orgaZionized
True, the title does restrict itself to two national parks. And this guide does an excellent job covering everything to see and do and how to get there for each of them. But the table of contents suggests that it is attempting to cover the route along the way, and it is here I found it somewhat disorganized, if not at times lacking. This is a road-tested impression from a recent trip between Las Vegas and Page, AZ .To be fair, I think the authors’ editing approach was to present destinations in a hierarchy of importance to aid in trip planning. But when used as a real-time guide, it does not follow the geographic order in which you will encounter them while traveling. Interesting stops are sometimes presented in incongruous side boxes, with details cross-referenced to another chapter. For example, the free but quite impressive dinosaur exhibit in Big Water. And some charming stops are omitted entirely, like the “ho-made” pies at the kitschy Thunderbird in Carmel Junction. I have no commercial interest in either example, and realize that it is impossible for any guide to be completely comprehensive. But as a constructive suggestion for future editions, structuring the information to follow what appears along the road as travelled would be more practical.

Wow
Very thorough book! Can’t imagine what info could be left out! Look forward to our vacation to these areas and feel more prepared now.

Used to plan my trip
Used this guide to plan my trip to Bryce and Zion. This guide helped me to find hikes I can do.What could be better - for Narrows it was difficult to find how much we walked as there was no trail sign. Not sure if GPS in watch can be trusted as we need to walk across the river many times (that seems to add distance). Some more hiking details/maps or pictures would have helped.

Not great.
The main reason I don’t like this book is the font is so small that when outside in not great light it is very difficult to read. Plus it’s old! Although the Amazon description says (I think) its from 2021, when reading the book there are references to things it says will happen in the next few years and they’re referring to 2019 as being in the future!

Crucial guide to National Parks and surrounding areas of southern Utah
I carried this book and used it as my guide to visit Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef National Parks. It also provided useful to identifying amazing sights outside of the national parks. Was beneficial for identifying sights to see, trails to hike, other activities, planning a trip, where to eat and stay. My trip wouldn't have been as great as it was without this book.

Covers everything
Although a lot of the information is available on the internet, I am very glad I purchased this book. I used it to plan my trip. I am going to bring it with me when I go, too. There are maps, itineraries, suggestions, history, geology, wildlife and survival guides. This book has it all.

Zion & Bryce Travel Guide Book
This book has a lot of useful info for first time visitors for the park. I had a limited time in Zion, and knewwhat I wanted to see and do. I spent more time in Bryce, and stayed close to the park. Again the book featured which hikes I wanted to take.
