Review: Contains all of Colette's essential essays - Love that this volume contains all of Colette's essays, making no need to search for another edition. Also, while a bit thick it fits myh shoulder bag nicely. Review: Beautiful writing - So glad Inhad the opportunity to enter the world of Colette via this collection of short stories. Only complaint is that the book is large and unwieldy to hold.

Colette--a Timeless Talent
What can I say? I taught Colette's stories in literature classes. She still remains a hit (And continues to hook me with her tales and style--even though she no longer walks this earth.)

Glimpse a Vanished World
Dipped into various stories and enjoyed. Knew the name but never before read so much. Writing style a little dates but perfect for the period. Very good!

Great writing. Excellent collection. Poor printing.
The stories are beautifully written, very imaginative, delightfully irreverent, interesting. The writing deserves 5 stars. In terms of the art of bookmaking and design, it deserves 1 or 2 stars. The paper is cheap and the printing is poor quality. Because the paper is super-absorbent and uncoated, the ink soaks into the paper making the edges of the typography rough and uneven. It is a very thick book, and should have been split into two volumes so as to be less unwieldy and more pleasant to hold in your hand. If you don't care about book design and bookmaking, then by all means buy this edition for its superb content. Otherwise, go for a different edition.

Absolutely Terrific Collection
Love Colette's stories and the ones about her stylist and dressmaker are hilarious. Great collection.

First Woman to Publish In France. She was admitted to honor societies, and prestigious clubs where only men were once allowed.
These short stories (short short, or flash fiction) were radical for their day, and fit right in to new definitions for short stories. Colette was a force of nature.

One of the Greats
Colette was one of the Great French writers in my opinion. Funny, sexy you just can't get any better. So much more to her writing than you think.

Dated?
The translations seem to be very good, but some of the stories seem dated and somewhat "precious". or affected. Nevertheless, interesting.
