MoshiUSB-C Digital Audio Adapter with Charging (Silver)

Works pretty well. Even better with the latest hardware.
After receiving and updated version of this device (see original review at the bottom of this), my experience was much better. Here are some things I found:The Good* Play/pause buttons on headphones work.* Headphone mics record with good quality.* Will just charge if only power is connected (and correctly act like no headphones are connected).* Can use headphones without power connected.* "Charging rapidly" when using power sources that support USB Power Delivery (but seemingly not other power sources that would cause "Charging rapidly" when plugged directly into the phone; see note, below, in The Bad)The Bad* Power being disconnected while listening to audio will cause it to pause. Hitting play again will work, but if done too quickly it will play through the phone before switching back to the headphones (takes about two seconds to recover, total). The manufacturer informs me that this is because the adapter uses a feature of USB Power Delivery 3.0, and USB PD 2.0 (which my phone and it's power adapter support) does not support this feature (USB PD 3.0 Fast Role Swap).* Power being disconnected while using the mic will cause it to be interrupted. It sounds like it reverts to the mic in the phone, then back to the headphones after a second or two. I'd be curious to know if works correctly with USB PD 3.0 Fast Role Swap hardware (phone and power source).* Sometimes, unplugging the headphones will act like pressing the play button. The manufacturer informs me that they're having their quality control team look into this one.* If you have a power source that normally causes the phone to show "Charging rapidly", but does not actually support USB Power Delivery, then that power source will only charge the phone slowly when used through this adapter. Without USB PD, this adapter will only support 5.0V/0.5A (which is what the spec says to do).----Below is my original review.----I bought this for my Pixel 2. I didn't test the charging through the adapter as the audio functionality didn't work well at all.Playing audio through the device was fine. If your headphones have a button to play/pause music, that works. And it properly detects if headphones are plugged in or not. (Meaning you can leave the adapter plugged into your phone, but without headphones plugged into it, and the phone will play audio through its speakers and not try to play through the adapter.)The issues I had were with the microphone. If you plug the headphones into the adapter and then plug the adapter into your phone, the microphone doesn't work at all.If you plug the adapter into your phone, and then plug the headphones in, the mic will then work. Kind of. Very poorly. The audio recorded through the adapter is very choppy and uneven. The adapter that comes with the Pixel 2 does this perfectly with the same headphones.

The battery life in the Pixel 2 is good but i definitely need to charge on my way ...
Solves the no 3.5mm headphone jack for my Pixel 2, kinda. I have this in my car so i can charge and listen to podcasts/music on my long commute. The battery life in the Pixel 2 is good but i definitely need to charge on my way home from work. So far so good...except for when the device cuts out the podcast/music which is playing at a normal volume and randomly blasts static at full volume through my speakers. First time it happens it was terrifying, subsequent times have been scary but i'm ready for it now. All in all it's happened 4 times over 3 days and I only almost crashed my car once! This thing is definitely going to cause a car accident by scaring the crap out of someone who's not expecting a full static noise blast in their car. Good luck!Update: received a new and updated version... It's still terrible. Doesn't screech static at full blast any more but it's now terrible at charging. Phone charges 'raoidly' without the device connected and charges 'slowly' with it connected. It really isn't worth the money.

Half-baked garbage product
I don't generally make a habit of reviewing products, but I'm making an exception here, because this thing is absolute garbage. I wish I would have heeded the warnings of some of the other reviewers and saved the $45. If there were an option for zero or negative stars, this thing would be a prime candidate. When I first received the adapter, it would work fine for a little while, then suddenly whatever I was listening to would jump to full volume for no apparent reason. Considering that I was using this thing so I could charge my phone while listening to music while I sleep, that was a very, very annoying little quirk. Other times the music would just cut out for no reason, and I'd have to unplug the adapter from my phone, then unplug the power, and when I'd plug it back in, it would work again... for a while.Within a couple of weeks, the USB-C port broke, rendering the device completely useless, and of course I'm not able to return it.Moshi should be ashamed of themselves for selling this trash.

Purchased for Google pixel 2 xl , Randomly makes static noise so watch your ears. Sometimes works and other times never...hit or miss. Product seems well made but random times it's just pure static noise...shame because not a cheap product.

It is okay, using it on a pixel 2xl. To get audio to work, i typically have to plug that in before plugging in the charger. Also, when other notifications come in while playing audio or watching video with audio, the sound goes full volume with a ton of static. Just using it for the 3.5mm connection and no charging seems to be okay though.
