Inspiring, witty, fascinating
I am a life long cafe doodler. This BOOK is a rich and witty collection. I have images hanging (framed) in eateries from Abu Dhabi to San Francisco, Manilla, Rome, Marakesh, PARIS, NYC, COLORADO SPRINGS, Pasadena ... This bookinspires me to do the book many have asked for. GREAT ART, MOST INSPIRING: PAGE After page.(ATTAHCED: MY ART)

Fast, warm read
It's short, informal and because of the subject, you wish the anecdotes of it's storied clientele had more detail. However, to find a book on Le Select is a gift.

A gem of a book!
This small, artfully produced book is wonderful as well as charming. The characters who appear within are memorable. They range from hysterically funny to amusing to insightful. This book is the real thing, done by two people who know Paris through & through. Riley-Fitch knows more about the paris literary cafe (as well as others across Europe---see her book "Grand Literary Cafes of Europe") than most and Rick Tulka personally knows probably everyone in this book. Even though these are simple line drawings, they are artful and immediate. One can almost smell the coffee! This is a five star book.

Out of date
I love cafe Le Select, but the book is outdated. The owner must have sold it or who knows, and some of the features described, including the cover of the menu shown on the cover of the book, are gone. The history of the cafe, is interesting and worth reading. The rest of the book is ok at best.

I would like to give this small book ten stars
I would like to give this small book ten stars, alas only five are available. I'll tone down the drama; however, Le Select is a wonderful cafe on Blvd Montparnasse which is perfectly described with text and drawings in this fine book.If planning a visit to Paris, read this book, and then, when in Paris, buy a morning paper and have an early morning 'Sur le Pouce' at Le Select.
