Spode Blue Italian Mug, Set of 4

Q: Where is it truly made?

Well, it’s odd, but the Spode mugs are made in China, but my Spode plates (purchased a year after the mugs and the same pattern) are still made in England. Both are excellent quality and very durable.

Q: where is this made recently?

"Italian" is the pattern,not the country where it was made. Some of Spode has been recently manufactured in Malaysia and China. Older pieces were made in England. If the word England does not appear under the glaze on the bottom, they are from Asian factories and of low quality! I hope Portmeirion makes the new ones. Those pictured in this ad look like the Malaysian ones that crackled.

Q: I bought 2 sets of these mugs a few years ago from Amazon and all developed a crackle effect inside. Is this common?

Yes! Mine have developed the crack marks. Very disappointed. Same with my Spode Christmas Tree mugs.

Q: What is the width of the cup? 7.5 inches can’t be right.

The cup is a cylinder which is three inches across from top to bottom.
