I bought this engine for $65 as a return from Amazon. I do recommend before you even start it seal all the usual places. Secondly, completely disregard the manual. I set both needles flush with the fittings and started the break in with a medium/hot plug. I pre heated the engine to 200°F and started cranking for break in. At first it was a very tight engine and I ran about five tanks at idle with the occasional blip to clear it out. I then took it out for an additional quart of fuel of slowly opening the throttle to get it seated in at higher rpm and loads. At the very end of the second quart she really started to sing nice and smooth with the HSN slightly rich of peak rpm. I don’t do much tuning with a temp gun but after break in with a basher tune it runs about 245°. I haven’t raced it yet. If anything develops I’ll update this review.

Great little engine. Haven’t broken it in yet but turned it over manually and it rotates fine.

Well I just received my third one from amazon and out of the package there was oil everywhere!!!!bearing by crankshaft has oil all over it too!!! I haven't run this one yet I will try this weekendthe second engine I received lasted 1 tank of nitro!!!!!! SEIZED on second tank within 1 minute of running I never even got to give this engine any throttle My first one came with the carb hanging out and the o rings were damaged so I never even ran that one!!!!!! So you know they will gladly take them in for repair and you get to wait 2 weeks if you are lucky This is a listed as a new engine I personally believe they are selling repaired motors here on amazon The second motor was missing bushing and head gasket plus my favorite was the random screw floating around the box All I wanted was to purchase a practice engine and yet have been able to practice with any of these motors sent to me!!!!!!! IF I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS ONE IM SENDING BACK AND IM DONE USING DYNMITE MOTORS I have purchased same engine from hobby shop online and no issues in my other car ,but I haven't had NO LUCK BUYING FROM AMAZON THIS IS WHY I THINK THESE ARE SECONDS GOOD LUCK

Love the product and the price is right.

I am still in the break in process on this engine so I will update this later with a more thorough review. For the time being I'd like to warn anyone who buys this engine to check the factory needle settings before trying to run it. The manual says the high needle should be 3 1/2 turns out and the low needle 2 turns out. Those are *supposed to be* the settings from the factory. The needles on my engine were 5 1/2 turns high and 3 1/2 turns low. No wonder why it didn't want to start or idle. I have been in this hobby for 25+ years and never saw factory needle settings so far off.Update: The break in is complete and I've run about ten tanks of fuel through this engine so far. It starts easy and has been holding its tune with no problems. I don't have any higher end engines to directly compare it to but I'm very happy with the power this engine puts out. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a low dollar engine to go budget racing or bashing.
