This is an excellent container for reheating leftovers in a microwave oven. It is ceramic, and will not contaminate the food with dangerous chemicals as plastic containers often do. The lid prevents food particles from spattering, and covering the inside of the microwave. I often eat my meal directly from the domburi bowl if I am eating alone, or use it as a serving dish if I am sharing my meal with another person. These bowls get a lot of use at my house.
