This is the best tool I have found. It's a solid J-Hook style tool wit a sharp prying edge but Its short and I like that. I usually just wear jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt plus a veil when working my colonies and so I appreciate simplicity and I don't like having to many things protruding. This tool fits in my back pocket and does the job. I think I own 4 or 5 of them but that's fine as I teach and its nice to have a few extras for people to try out.

Awesome Tool for beekeepers... Absolutely love mine, so well I purchased one for my son and another beekeeper friend. Just the right size. I have the normal J tool but I always go for this one first. Price is right along with the size...Go ahead and get one, you'll not be disappointed.

It's small but stout! The only complaint is that it's not long enough to actually get good leverage on the heavily propolis hives. But it's a great tool if your working your hives weekly or biweekly. And it fits in your pocket!

I have small hands and it is difficult to handle heavy frames and still hang on to the hive tool.I especially like the fact I can have one in each hand while holding the frames so I am ready to pullthe next one.

I don't love it but it's small enough to keep in my kit bag in case I have a friend helping me. Measures 6.25" end to end. I just don't feel the stability like I do with the full size hive tool. The square part digs into my palm as I'm using the hook to lift up frames and the hook digs in as I scrape burr comb off with the square part. Not comfortable but, it'll be a useful back up.

A handy tool. I drop it in my pocket anytime I might be near the hives. I don't think it replaces the standard size tools but it sure comes in handy for those times I got into my hives when I didn't plan to....or dropped my regular tool.

My favorite hive tool PERIOD. Sharp edge, love the small j-hook, strong and fits perfect in my hand/pocket. The big tools are just way to cumbersome for me, I accidentally left one of these pocket hive tools at a friends bee yard and she thinks this is way better than the large, long ones too.

I found the small size perfect to use in situations when you need to multitask- which is all the time while working your hives
