DritzMechanical Fabric Pencil Fons & Porter, 11 Piece Set, White

Best I've found
The leads in this pencil are strong, but softer than the Bohin ones, which in my experience take a fair bit of scrubbing to get a mark. You can draw fairly lightly with this and get a clear, fine line - just perfect for quilting on medium or dark fabrics.Like all mechanical pencils, the mechanism is fiddly (they aren't usually my cup of tea at all); and I haven't yet found out how well this washes out. I also wish these pencils were better packaged, so that the little box of fragile refill leads could be more easily stored safely along with the pencil. But there's no doubt at all that the quality of the lead merits five stars, and earns this pencil poll position in my box of marker tools.

Not just for fabric either!
After quite a bit of searching for an instrument to line up dark paper for calligraphy, I found this. It is just what is needed - lovely clear thin line that rubs off easily when no longer needed. I just need to remember to use a guard sheet so that I don't accidentally rub off the line before I've finished with them. Excellent, easy to use and perfect for purpose, if quite expensive.

Slightest pressure and the lead snapped
I bought this to make markings for my fabric. The first attempt was horrible when i tried to draw, the slightest pressure on the pen and the lead snapped. Tried using it lightly but couldn't make any markings. Tried it on different materials thinking that's the cause but still not effective. Waste of money. Ended up buying tailors chalk which did a better job.
