What a wonderful book written by outstanding authors, The Grimm brothers. Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs appear as they were actually written and intended. there a total of sixteen tales reproduced.Less recognizable tales such as The Goose Girl, The Bear And the Wren, Tom Thumb and The Twelve Dancing Princesses are included in this work.There is no fluff and little exaggeration. These stories are written as the Grimm Brothers wrote them nearly 200 years ago.. And they are refreshing as well as refreshing. As you read them to your little ones, you can always change words and meanings if your child isn't ready forthe stark reality of the tales. These are not the tales that Disney portrays in movies and kids' books. Each story has some elements portrayed in them that reminds us of the Disney tales, but there is a big divide between Grimm and Disney. Keep this in mind should you read these tales to your young children.The book is made of quality paper. The illustrations are very good and colorful. Read the original versions by the Brother's Grimm then compare to Disney. It's a good book to own in your library. Like everything else in life, be careful how you use it around young and impressionable children.

This is a beautiful book! Contains original stories and not disney versions. I got it for my 3yo, but it’s probably for 5-7 yo. More words than pictures but a wonderful book to have and keep. I would have loved to have had something like this as a kid.

I wanted my little grand daughter to hear some of the stories I knew as a child, and this book had so many of them in it. They love to have me read to them at night before they go to sleep, so that is our quite time together. They enjoy the stories and laying in my bed with me while I read to them. The book is well made and has bright colorful illustrations in it.

I bought this as a gift for my 7 year old daughter who is still developing her reading skills. I've read a few of the stories to her at bedtime and they take at least 15 minutes to get through. The illustrations are nice and the font is large enough for younger readers. This is definitely an edition to cater to kids since the language used is simplified and a little more modern than the original Grimm's fairy tales I read when I was a kid. My daughter likes this book and it's good quality print and binding. I only have 4 stars because I was a little disappointed at the simplification of the fairy tales. I'll look for an unabridged edition I can buy for myself.

I’m so glad I found this book! We have other Grimms books, but this one is by far our favorite! A nightly read. Worth buying in a hardcover.

Usborne makes terrific books, and we have been fans for years. This book does not disappoint. A great collection of the story classics with playful, artful illustrations. Both my children (5 & 7) love the book.
