David does an exceptional job giving context, summary, and clear ties between Scripture (both OT and NT) and Jesus.

I am currently reading the King James Bible front to back. This book gives helpful summaries of each book in the Bible. I read it first before starting a new book. I believe it helps set the stage for understanding what I am reading next. I love it.

A friend suggested using this study guide for the Bible. It is organized by book and gives context to the books. It often describes the social context under which it was written and often talks about the authors and what may have been going on at the time that influenced how they conveyed God's word. I would highly recommend this study guide as you pursue your individual or group study of the Bible.
