The Dragon Defenders - Book One: Book 1 (The Dragon Defenders: the runaway phenomenon middle grade series for kids aged 8-12)

First solo read for my confident reading 7 year old. He absolutely loved this book, read in only 4 sittings as he was so absorbed. Thrilled with himself (as are we) for reading a ‘big book’ solo. He took it into school (year 2) to show his teacher and she’s now reading it for the whole class! I’ve ordered him the next in the series. We’ve not accessed the AR yet. Stands up as a great read without it.

My son was very excited at trying out AR on this book! None of his other books have this feature. He is a very advanced reader for his age. This book is very easy for him to read but he still enjoyed the story a lot. I would recommend this book for children age 6-7 if they are very confident reader. I pitched to 6-7 years old based on my son's reading ability.

my 7 year old absolutely loved this book. he begged every night for the next chapter and even started reading it himself. language is ideal or starter readers as it is simple enough for them to gain confidence while also learning new words along the way. print size is good and chapters are short which kept his interest. we have just finished the first book and are about to start the second. my only very minor complaint is the cover of the book curls easily and doesnt stay closed when not being used, but the story is fantastic.

An excellent first book in the series. Good introduction with considerable detail and excellent storyline. The app that goes with it makes it an unusual book and encourages the reader to find out more. All the others in the series are even better.

Grandson seemed to enjoy this book.

This is the best kids book I have found for my 4 yr old girl and 6 year old boy. They (and I ) were hooked from the first chapter

This book would have been excellent reading for my 10 yr old grandson, but the callous killing of wild birds and cruelty to a dog in the first few pages are shocking. My grandson, like so very many children, loves wildlife, including birds, and would find this book so distressing. It is not as if this is a historical book aiming for accuracy. Even if it was, I would expect a different approach to how such facts of life that were the norm in the past are presented to children of these times.
