Well-designed grab bars -- just be careful
These grab bars are terrific. I put 2 into my shower stall last month and they are still very firmly in place. They are also easy to re-position if you want to -- just pull up the release levers. (I moved one, and it was easy.) They're well designed in all respects and very affordably priced -- an excellent product.Note added a year and a half later: I continue to be very impressed by and grateful for these grab bars. They stay put for months. I tug at each one before I turn on the shower to be sure they've got a tight hold, and they're so ON THERE that I feel like I could pick up the shower stall! Rarely, one has come loose, and that's readily apparent when I test it. I simply take it off, wipe down the shower wall surface, and reattach it.Note added in Nov. 2019: They do begin to wear out after a couple of years, and they come off more readily. I'd never want to put my whole weight (130 lbs) on one. But they're great for steadying me in the shower, especially when I have my eyes closed. And, of course, I always tug on each on to make sure it's tight before taking a shower. Just be careful when using them.

Good grip, holds rock solid, but...
We bought these are my wife had knee surgery and needed the support in the shower area. I bought two - one for the back wall and one for the side wall. The suctions and snaps are heavy duty and secure well. I give this product four stars as one that I bought keeps falling off the wall. I secure when needed and it stays as needed, but several hours later there is a loud crash when it falls off the wall. This could be a fault in the product BUT i must admit where I put the second one there is a slight curve to the wall - perhaps causing it to lose it's grip. I've tried moving it further in with little success but in the end you need it where you need it. So I give this product 4 stars as it's unclear whether one was defective or not. To it's credit, the first one I put hasn't budged in weeks. The grip is the right size and rock solid as I've pulled on it hard and it hasn't budged. And to be honest, I find myself using it from time to time, making me wish I'd bought one long ago just because.

Didn't work for me
This seems to be a solidly built and attractive product, and was reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the wall tile in all of my showers is 4" X 4" and because of the distance between the suction cups on this it is impossible to get it to grip firmly on both sides at once. One side or the other always lands on a grout line which breaks the suction seal so that side slides around. The other side does seem to hold tightly, but with only side holding firm, I wouldn't count on this to keep my balance in the shower. I'm sure it would work better on tile that's at least 4" X 6" so I'll probably give it to someone who has more compatible wall tile in their shower.

Doesn't Work on Tile
It's tough for me to give this product a true rating as I had to return the one I ordered. I purchased this for my mother who disclosed to me well after the fact that she'd slipped in the shower. I didn't realize before receiving the grip that it does not work on tile. So I read the easy to follow directions included in the box and tested out the product in one of the bathrooms at my home to be sure that it works. Unfortunately the grip simply slipped right off my dry, tiled shower walls wall once any decent amount of weight was shifted onto it. After several unsuccessful attempts to get the grip to work, I deemed that the product would be unsafe for my mother to use considering the showers in her home all have tiled walls. It wasn't until after I returned the item when I realized that it's apparently not compatible with tile. The suction power on the grip seems to be pretty strong and the "installation" requires no hardware and no skill whatsoever. For these reasons I can at least give the product 3 stars. Considering tile walls in showers are SO common, it's a shame that this is incompatible with the surface type.

A Buyer Has To Know A Product's Limitations
I have owned this product for more than 6 months now and can state it deserves the high rating it gets. I gave this product 5 stars. Despite that, there are some flaws that potential buyers need to be aware of so they know what they are paying for.The most important thing to remember is that as good as this product is, it is not an attachment to a wall. It holds through suction. And over time, the suction will decrease, making the unit unstable. This is not a defect in the Bath Grip. It is a matter of knowing its limitations.Every time you go to use the Bath Grip be sure to check it to make sure it is secure to the wall. Give it a tug and be sure to check to see if there is any side-to-side movement. This is one of the lesser known problems with using this Bath Grip – it can move from side to side easily unless you check it before using it.This device is not designed to support your entire body weight. I imagine it is possible if there is a perfect suction and a perfect connection to the shower or bath wall. Personally, it is safer to presume it is primarily designed to put a moderate amount of weight on it. But anything beyond that is asking too much of the product. From 6 months of use I can tell you this is likely the best Bath Grip you will find, especially for the price. It is portable, sturdy, and attaches easily. If you are looking for a rubber grip on the handle, this product does not have one. So be sure to rinse any soap or oil from your hands before depending on it for support. Would it be a better product with a rubber grip on the handle? My short answer is- definitely.

A great product that is stronger than you would ever believe it was, but must be installed properly.
I bought this to help my elderly father keep his balance in the shower and it looks like it will do the job well. I installed it very easily, you simply need to make sure that it is on a completely flat surface. If you are using it on tiles, you have to be sure to keep it only on the tile and isn't on any grout lines. Once it was installed I was amazed at how much weight it was actually able to support. It can easily be used in the shower if you need something to keep your balance. If you are using a bath chair, it is easily strong enough to help you pull yourself into a standing position. I will add however that if it is not installed properly and placed on any cracks, grout lines, or any uneven surface, than it will not hold any weight at all. If you do manage to get it to install and lock down at all then using it would be very dangerous. You should definitely test it after it is installed, then leave it over night, and testing it again, before you even try to use it. No matter where you are using it make sure to create the exact same environment that it will be used in and test it in that situation before allowing it to be used when someone could be injured. If like me you are using it in the shower, run the shower on it for at least 30 - 60 minutes, and attempt to see if it will still hold the same needed weight, while the shower is running, then again directly after you turn off the water, and again approx. 1 hour later. This may seem like overkill to some, and it very well may be unneeded but for me, spending a little extra time to be sure that this great product will be safe and secure for my family members to use and that I have covered all of my bases before I allow anyone else to use it in any situation where it can be an essential tool for their independence, but for my piece of mine and theirs spending that extra time, will always be worth it to me. You need to always remember that this can be a very useful, however it is still only held on by suction and that suction can be easily broken for any number of reasons. PLEASE TEST THE STABILITY AND STRENGTH REGULARLY!!!

When your husband is awaiting his hip replacement...
Super impressed with this ever so simple gizmo. The size if perfect, the thickness of the grip is comfortable and solid; customizing the installation is a breeze; and the suction is absolutely solid. We have NOT got tile, and I worried this would not work on a tub surround...I was wrong, no problem, whatsoever! Although permanently affixed rails and grab bars are nice, they are rarely in the exact, correct spot, and even when custom installed, the needs and positioning can change as the persons abilities also change. Bonus: if you travel, this can be packed in the suitcase, and pulled out for use whether at a hotel or when visiting family!Installation is beyond simple, didn't even bother with the included circular stickers (might be needed in some applications); just wet the cup, pressed on the wall, and flipped the levers - DONE (yep, even skipped the "clean first" suggestion as we were just trying it out, and well, it stuck and is still stuck). To reposition, flip the suction levers open and the suction vanishes, like magic - imagine when you see folks carrying large sheets of glass with those suction cup handles; that is pretty much what this is and how it works. We got two, so that there would be multiple points of contact, and to provide versatility depending on how the tub/shower was being used, the ability to customize the location (repeatedly unclip, reposition, try again) was both critical and simple; allowing us to perfectly angle, and place the bars where they would be the most useful, and ergonomically comfortable. This makes them worth their weight in gold, literally. My husband has his dignity back, and I don't worry about him getting in an out of the tub when showering, best $40 we ever spent!

Works great but must be installed properly
I purchased this product before for my aging mother-in-law when getting in and out of the shower. I only bought one at that time to be sure it adhered to the tub wall without slipping or coming off in her hand. I installed it in May/18 and it has never fallen or slipped so I ordered a second one for her to hold inside the shower. The suction is great. What I love about it is that it does not require putting holes in the tub kit that can eventually lead to potential leaks requiring extensive and expensive repairs. But it must be mounted on a perfectly flat solid surface to work its best and tub kits have very few flat solid surfaces so installation areas are limited for a suction safety grip.

Great product. Use as intended
Product requires smooth surfaces, as suction cups will not work if not so. The back of my shower is very slightly granulated and the handle would end up falling off within 10 minutes. I resolved this issue using a patch of clear mactac and then applying the handle suction cups on top. It actually worked! Hasn't come down since ...it's been about 2 months and still going strong! Recommended use is for balancing only and not to take the full weight of anyone.
