Bosch Fuel Injection and Engine Management: How to Understand, Service and Modify

This book, along with the out-of-print Watson book, are the bibles for servicing and diagnosing Bosch CIS fuel injection systems. Clear descriptions and functional diagrams and pictures work to educate you on Bosch systems from CIS through Motronic. I bought the book again, after selling my last CIS car in the early 1990's but needing the info again to help a friend with his early Porsche 928. I'm at a point in life where I can't remember even half of the stuff I've forgotten, but I did remember this book was what kept my CIS Saab Turbo going back then. The updated version of the book includes a lot more on the systems in my LHA-equipped 928 too, a blessing to be realized later.Happy to see that this book was available. I bought a used copy through Amazon, which turned out to be in good and very serviceable condition. The previous users had highlighted in a few sections, but the book is clean and otherwise undamaged condition. Very satisfied with the purchase and happy to see books like this "upcycled".

I bought this book to help me figure out why my 1984 Vanagon isn't running correctly. So far it has been a very good resource. It breaks down the fuel injection system into manageable easy to understand pieces. I strted trouble-shooting and found out that my injectors are not spraying properly, so I have sent them out to be cleaned, hopefully that will fix the hesitation/surging unburned fuel issue that I'm having.Usually I cannot read this sort of book for more than a few minutes without getting bored, but this book is written in a way that makes it easy to understand. I highly recommend it for anyone wanting to learn how fuel injection systems work, and how to work on them.It is a little hard so far to fully grasp the pressure system, but I'm sure that's just me, I will keep reading it and I'm sure it will sink in. I've just had this book for about a week.

Well written and researched. Excellent background information on various BOSCH fuel injection and engine management systems. Not a direct diagnostic tool, but an excellent volume on theoretical aspects. Reading only the title, the reader may conclude that the concepts expressed are limited to BOSCH systems, however, many other automotive fuel and engine management systems share many common concepts. Thus understanding BOSCH systems also provide significant insight into many other similar/competing systems.

I'm old school and needed a basic overview of injection management. I also wanted a book that would allow me to modify and improve my fuel injection engines once I understood the basics. After receiving this book, I read it cover to cover and developed a good grasp of the system as a whole, and also a fundemental understanding of each component. Great outline and history of fuel injection systems. The book also focused on specific injection models with easy to comprehend descriptions and reviews of service requirements. I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn more about fuel injection as a concept, and especially recommend you purchase this book if you are working on an engine that has an injector.

I am an automotive technician, and as such, I sometimes find information regarding vehicle systems can be hard to come by. When I do find a reference source, I'm usually little unsure how accurate or useful it may be, but this book has proven to be a great suppliment to manufacturer-supplied service materials, as it describes in detail how these systems operate, as well how each component affects each system's operation. The section on CIS is the most complete I've found; that in of itself makes this book a great value, especially in light of its broad coverage of all aspects and applications. Again, accurate, complete and authoritive.

Book is just what I needed to work on my vehicle.
