This is a great book!
This is a really great book and for the beginner uke player it is very easy to understand and is in a very good learning order. It covers a lot of different things from music notation, how to read tabulature (TAB), strumming patterns, and even info on how to tune your uke with an electronic tuner (a must for players). The songs are very easy to read and that is a plus for a beginner. I like that this book comes with online audio as well (I have not accessed it yet). There are some fun activities in the book like mystery song. This books shows Level 1 on the front but I have not been able to find any other Levels. If there were, I would definitely be interested in buying them. The price for this book at $10.00 comes up a little higher than some other kids courses but I can attest it is well worth the price. I am an adult beginner ukulele player with very little musical knowledge. Another book I really like is Ukulele Primer for beginners (comes with a DVD) and Alfred's Kid's Ukulele Course Complete. I had this book in my wish list forever and should have ordered it a lot sooner. It is very, very helpful and would definitely recommend it!

Great beginning music book
My granddaughter will be using the book for beginning ukulele work. It’s a great resource and was a good price.

Geared for kids. Just add teacher.
Best: Full of finger picking and strumming songs. Each strumming song has a recommended strumming pattern and 2 different ways to view the song (words/chords and a version with words/chords/treble clef melody).Worst: While it does have a few pages of theory crammed in at the beginning, it really presumes the student already knows how to read music on the Treble clef. This book is intended for 4th or 5th graders and no where on the book or Amazon states this. Also there's no page number index.Extra: I prefer teaching C chord first. This book starts with fingerpicking and then C7 and F chords. I teach ukulele one-on-one and will be using the book as supplementary and out of sequence.

Love the curriculum!
I found this on teachers pay teachers originally. I started at a school that had just received a class set of ukuleles and only knew a few chords myself. Today I still use it for private lessons even with older students. I skip around a little and don't find the need to use all of the material (I don't focus on TAB until later), but the method and 'familiar' songs are perfect for those that might be new to music.

Good Uke book.
Easy to follow. Students and I love it. No CD but I play piano so I do the melody so kids can sing and play. Nice.

One of the Best Ukulele teaching tools for Kids
I read purchased and read a lot of ukulele teaching books for kids. I will be teaching a kids class for the rec department where I live. After going through 10 different books, I think this is one of the best ones out there. I am looking forward to volume 2.

A good starter book
A good starter book. It starts out using uke tab, but then stops and goes to standard notation. That's not a bad thing, but they should've continued with tab under the standard notation. This opinion comes from a elementary school music teacher. Still, it's a good book.
