Edge of the seat reading...
I never thought I'd do this but I'm givin' this book set a 5 because it is so good. I know some people expressed offense by the F word (as I normally would) but, honestly, I didn't see an over-abundance of profanity. Like, it wasn't just randomly laced through conversations. It was in moments of catastrophe and fright. It just so happens, there were a LOT of those moments. I am on the 7th book and the bloom is a wee bit gone from the rose, as it were. For the first 6 to be so thrilling...to the point I couldn't wait until bedtime so I could read more...the 7th has come to a crushing halt and I'm having a hard time staying with it. But, even still, the first six were great and deserve a 5 in my opinion.Another comment I read from people is: How can a preppied up, lazy slacker boy turn into a courageous, quasi-super-hero almost overnight. Well, I don't think in normal life he would have but, due to the virus wiping out a lot of his cautionary behavior and empathy, it left him somewhat of a meaner, bad ass type personality who had to search deep to find his soft side. I think the writing is excellent and a few typos or miss-information doesn't bother me a bit. Ease up people, this is fiction! Plus, Mr. Adair gave us hours upon hours of good entertainment for only .99 cents! Now...what could be better than that? We should be thanking Adair, not slandering him and picking apart his thought processes in writing this book. It's HIS writing style, not yours. Write your own book. The book was over-all great reading, exciting, nail-biting journeys that I totally enjoyed. (I just skipped over the gory parts because they were too upsetting for me). I was warmed by Zed and Murphy's respect and love for each other and the bond that they formed; and I'm looking forward to finishing this series and on to book 10! Thank you, Bobby Adair, for your talent and obvious keen knowledge of human dynamics. Also, you must have a great wit because I LOL at some of the funny, off-the-cuff remarks between some of the characters! It really lightened things which was sorely needed. Thanks again.

Surprisingly Good
I'll be honest with you. I got this because I was in a zombie-reading mode and this was a 10 book set for 99 cents. What was there to lose? To be even more honest, even at that price, I wasn't sure I was going to like it. I'm an old fashioned zombie gal. I like my zeds to be the old school Romero-style shamblers and it was apparent pretty early on that this was not going to be the case with this series. I don't like smart zombies and I don't like fast ones. This series is unlike any I've ever read. As I said, this is not my usual cup of tea but I'm glad I read it. I found it to have a very interesting premise and well written. It starts with the usual virus but, unlike most, the infected don't die and then rise as the undead. They get sick, run fever, go into a coma and either die (and stay dead) or they come back as some form of what the series calls Whites. They are still essentially human in that the same things that will kill a person will kill a White. Destroying the brain is not the only way to kill them. They can run but are not supernaturally fast. They eat people but those people do not turn into Whites. The first Whites are kind of what you'd expect--angry and focused on making a meal out of humans, essentially monsters. As the series progresses, you learn that there are variations on how the virus affects the Whites. At the other end of the scale, there are calm ones who aren't violent. I'm not sure how to describe them other than they basically just exist. They will follow simple commands but otherwise will just sit there. There are also smart ones, capable of thinking and planning and directing other, less high-functioning, Whites. And then there are Slow Burns. They survive the fever and coma, awakening essentially as they were before but they have same pale skin as the Whites. The protagonist of this series is one of those as is his new best friend. They meet a few others along the way though this is the rarest version. If you like that good fighting action, there's plenty of it in Slow Burn. The books are fast paced and keep your interest. If he writes more in this series, I'd be glad to read them. I'd probably have given this a 5 star rating except for one thing. I don't want to give away plot points so I'll just say that there's a story arc that goes on, in my opinion, way too long where the main character gets obsessed with a particular mission. To me at least, it doesn't make much sense and is, frankly, stupid and foolishly risks lives with his obsession regarding accomplishing this. It obviously wasn't a deal breaker for me since I did keep reading but it did really annoy me.Over all, however, it was a good series and I enjoyed it. I'd recommend it.

so stressful and so good
There were so many times (SO MANY) where I wanted to just skip ahead to where I found out whether Murphy was ok or not bc I would just be furious if he got killed off. This was a great read, many stressful times that had me sitting here with sweaty hands bc I really get into the storyline. I feel like I had ptsd a couple of times and definitely had some weird dreams lol. Great book. Wish we’d gotten more out of Dalhover, though. I really liked his character. Maybe it’s my 27 years in the Army, I have a soft spot for crusty old senior NCOs.

I NEED the Second Saga!
This was a great series, just full of useful info., adrenaline, real emotion, and shocking, boiled down survivor mentality & intuition. My favorite character was resilient & loyal Murphy as well as Steph& Grace. Zed is complex, damaged, brave & heroic. He is difficult to take sometimes but still you find yourself rooting for him to survive, develop emotionally & find some peace, safety & a good woman that will shave off some of his agitating qualities. I would LOVE to see him develop into a caring & more optimistic partner, friend, dad? I want he & the main characters to prevail, find a safe area to make their own & learn how they pioneer their way towards making a functioning community. We ALL wonder HOW we could do that….. solve simple plumbing, sewage issues while farming, & how to build pumps, mills, generators, etc. Please show me the progression 5 yrs. Out w/o “whites” as the primary concern. Also, a big nod to your proofreaders! Nary an error 😅 Can’t wait to read more….

Keeps you coming back
Fun read with a good mix of humor and drama. Well written. You don't have the impression of reading the script from a bad B-movie like many of these apocalyptic series. Very good character development. Quite entertaining.

Bom início
Os dois primeiros livros são bons. Do terceiro adiante fica bastante tedioso.

The best apocalyptic book ever!
I have over 4000 books on my kindle and I can honestly say this book is the best of them all. The writing is fluent and flowing. The spelling and grammar is excellent so you’re not pulled up short thinking this is wrong. The plot and the characters are well rounded and interesting. This is a new take on the typical end of the world scenarios and I found it interesting and intriguing. It also managed not to have any rape scenes (apart from an obliquely mentioned instance) that often occur in other books I have read.I ended up feeling sorry for some of the infected and there was also a sense of humour running through the book which lightened the tension somewhat. In short the most excellent book. Well done to the author for an original idea that was well written.

Must read!
I just couldn't stop reading! I love the writing style. It's my first time reading this author and won't be the last! 9 books is long to read but doesn't seem like it at all!I really like Zed and Murphy, they're slow burn, they don't fit anywhere... They have a strong friendship and are trying to survive in this world. Many things will happen to them, they will meet people, will be betrayed, find love... they will lost a lot in order to live.I like the characters development and all the secondary characters are great too.You won't be disappointed!
