Brothers In Arms Half Speed Master

The Pressing to Have
I’ve had about eight copies of this album representing four different pressings, and this one is the best. I also own the MOFI pressings of Dire Straits, Making Movies, and Love Over Gold—all exquisite. But the MOFI pressing of Brothers in Arms is a disaster. I had to return it four times, and each subsequent copy had more defects than the last. So I decided to try this one, and I am very satisfied. Sound stage is great. Instrument separation is well done. Overall a great pressing. I hope MOFI decides to repress BIA again, but until then this one will more than suffice.

Wow!
I have the 33 RPM version of this album and I listened to it right before I put this new Half Speed Master 45 RPM album on my turntable and all I can say is WOW - this new album is spectacular. I love it. It really shows off my system well. It's so quiet, then alive with music. The soundstage is spectacular. Absolutely worth every penny.

Dire Straits
Mark obviously at the top of his game. This half-speed master is a masterpiece. I was most impressed with the shipping. Thanks for getting it in the post as soon as I ordered, got here as a gift, got here in time even though I ordered late!

Sounds great, but oh, the irony
This 2021 reissue is half-speed mastered at Abbey Road, and comes on two vinyl records set to spin at 45 rpm. All that means it plays back the best possible sound from a vinyl record. This is of course deliciously ironic. When first released in 1985, Brothers in Arms was the poster child for the cutting edge of fully digitally recorded music delivered on the shiny new digital compact disc format. Pristine audio with no more vinyl rumble or pops and clicks! This album was the reason many people bought their first CD player. Now, after CDs killed vinyl, file sharing killed CDs, iTunes killed file sharing, and streaming audio subscriptions killed iTunes, we have come full circle, and this album still sounds great.

Sound is exceptional
I am no professional Audiophile but I dabble and have a fairly good ear and this record is Crisp, Clean and Clear, and I can attest to not snap, crackle or pop. My equipment is entry level but good and I can definitely tell the difference from my other regular speed Vinyl. I can't compare to MoFi since you can't get it anyway. The delivery packaging was one up from what I have read about on here from others, thick formed box that looks like it was actually made for records, that being said one corner was slightly wrinkled barely enough to cry about.

Beatles, then Dire Strait
An incredible album by a master of the guitar. Pressing of the final is great, sounds awesome, can't stop listening to it.

Worth the extra over standard vinyl
Cost about 50% more than a standard LP but worth it for the extra fidelity. Virtually silent as well which is a bonus. There's a depth to the sound and the mastering balance is spot on clear, detailed and yet not in the slightest bit fatiguing.Had to send the first copy back as a stray vinyl pip had scratched the final track on the 2nd disc but as usual returns are no agg.
