I bought these for my husband and they look great and are high quality. The only downside is that they run very narrow. They do come in wide at the Allen Edmonds stores and direct website, but we opted to just get them stretched at a local shoe repair shop. They still need some breaking in but are wearable now!

The break-in is critical. Apparently, If you wear shoes of this nature too long the first time out, you’re asking for trouble. I did, and now the tip of my big toe seems to be permanently numb. I have been buying cheaper dress shoes all my life so I didn’t know any better. Before returning them I decided to contact AE through their chat line. They were awesome and walked me through how to stretch them and proper break in. They now feel a lot better and according to the guy on the chat line, they will continue to get better. I’m still not convinced these are “better” than another brand I bought @1/3 the price. I’m sure it’s the long term vs short term. I just never expected shoes to last more than a year or two so the concept of buying for life is foreign to me.

Great shoes from AE. This is my second pair. The other pair I have had for ~6 years and just get them resoled. If you are looking for a classic black shoe that you can wear with a wide variety of clothing, from a suit to jeans, this is the one to get. It is classic and will not go out of style. Fits as expected and comfortable out of the box, which only improves with time.

Shoes had inconsistent black shoe coloring/polish around the sole. Fit was tight, more than what i would have expected. The shine on the leather was a bit more muted than what was anticipated. I did order another pair (light reddish brown) at the same time but this other pair came in a different box, each shoe had its own bag and the quality seemed much better. Fit was also more on par as to what was expected for this particular shoe brand.

I purchased a pair of Allen Edmonds Carlyle Oxfords through Amazon. The shoes looked great and the leather / finish was amazing. The problem was I purchased them through a Christmas sale and they were one size too small. The only option was a return but not an exchange for the sale price. After setting up a return and before actually returning them I called Allen Edmonds to see if there was any way to get the same sale price. I understand all the dynamics of this ask but I guess what surprised me was that the customer service rep didn't want to discuss the shoes at all after finding out I purchased them through Amazon. I would have thought that Amazon sold enough shoes for Allen Edmonds to want to try and work something out. Because of the craftsmanship I'll still purchase Allen Edmonds shoes but certainly not due to their customer service.

I've always worn better than average shoes. When you wear size 8, you need good shoes. Anyway, one day I went berserk and bought a pair of Allen Edmonds Men's Carlyle Oxford. They were comfortable from minute #1 and I haven't regretted the purchase for even a second. When I switched to my old good shoes for a week -- WOW what a difference. The Allen Edmonds shoes were much better. I now own two pairs and they are both great. I alternate them each day and use shoe trees at night -- both practices are highly recommended. One other note: Allen Edmonds shoe polish is excellent. I was using the brand you get at the grocery store and what a noticeable difference it makes to use the Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish. Not sure why, but it is much better stuff. Bottom line: If you need excellent black dress shoes that are comfortable enough to wear for long days including long treks through airports, I highly recommend these. As for the price ... How much do you spend for tires on your car? My last set cost $500. I decided that I am worth $300 for awesome shoes.

Shoe in photo does not look like the shoe I received. Color not the same. Actual shape too narrow.

Phenomenal dress shoe. I have worn many quality brands. The leather is smooth, flawless and moulds well too the foot.

First time buying Allen Edmonds, shoes came in a really nice box and shoe bags. I was disappointed that this came like this. Got another pair sent back to me hopefully it comes back as a good pair.
