For code P1405
My 1998 E450 had the service engine light on. I took it to auto zone and checked the code. Code P1405. DPFE Sensor. I read reviews and looked at all the DPFE15 sensors for sale online. They ranged from $10 to $200. They all physically looked the same. So i decided to try the cheap one out first. I received it fast, installed it fast, and no check engine light is on. I drove 20 miles just to check it out. So far so good. It works. If this sensor melts or blows up, i'll change the overall rating. But so far it does what it should

Failed after a few weeks
I was trying to fix a check engine light related to electrical failure in the EGR circuit. I decided to replace this part because it was only $12. However, it did not solve the problem which I ultimately traced to a broken wired. After I repaired the wire, I left the new part in thinking it would be better than the original 17-year old part. However, several weeks later the the check engine light reappeared. It was a different EGR code which pointed to the new part. I replaced it with the original 17-year old part and the check engine light went out and has not reappeared after many weeks and hundreds of miles.

Don't waste your money.
I bought this because it was WAY cheaper than other brands. There is a reason. It didn't last 2 weeks before the engine started running rough and throwing multiple codes to replace the EGR pressure sensor. I have now ordered the Motorcraft OEM part.

Why are they asking me to rate the "thickness" of this item?
I hadn't considered the thickness when I ordered it and it seems to be exactly the same thickness as the other 5 or 6 that I have had to replace. It seems these little EGR controls are only good for a year or two. And sometimes I just drive around and put up with a little surging and bucking for a year or so before I replace it again. Maybe someday I'll get one that will last 5 years but then again, I'm not sure either I or the pick up will still be on the road at that point. Anyway, so far it's been a week and it's working fine.Edit: Took a trip and after putting roughly 1000 miles on it my check engine light came back on out in the middle of Montana and now it's back to the surging and bucking., mostly when the engine is cold.

Part Lasted 6 months
Part is “plug and play” no tools required for installation. I Installed the part in January 2019. Part shorted out and blew off part of the casing in June 2019. Part lasted 6 months before failing. Part measures exhaust flow and is subjected to hot gasses. No other issues with vehicle were found that caused this failure.
