This feeder is essential for attracting birds who like to eat on the ground. I have one outside my kitchen window with my other feeders. The other two are outside two other windows hanging from an overgrown boxwood. Everyone who comes visit is amazed at my wide variety of backyard friends and enjoys learning their species names. It is easy to keep clean, too.

The ancient screen feeder attached to our Dining Room window lost its screen, leaving the wiring intact (but the seed would fall right through the wide gaps). For a quick fix (since the cold weather is coming) I searched on Amazon for something that would make do for the winter. I found this square screen feeder and based on the size I bought two. They came very quickly and I twist-tied the two feeders together, just set them on top of the old screen feeder, and I can now watch the birds and critters again! (These feeders also come with chains if you prefer to hang them from a pole or hook. They're very reasonably priced. I'm very happy with my purchase!

Bird feeder is best of all I have used thru the years. Easy access for filling and cleaning as well as birds feeding. Some birds share the tray with up to 4 birds feeding at a time. Some birds are aggressive and won't share. Important note is where I placed it. I hung it from a thin wire from the bottom my deck so it is mid air and the squirrels cannot get to it. The seed I buy is a combination feed with millet. I was concerned the tiny seeds would fall thru the mesh but they don't. Plan to buy another feeder to place at another location hanging from the bottom of the deck. May try a different seed to attract different birds! I consider this the best bird feeder purchase I have ever made- works great and reasonably priced.

While this product serves its purpose very well, a cheap hanging platform bird feeder, it does have a few flaws. First the chains rusted after a couple months of use so not sure on the longevity of this feeder. Second the platform is small only allowing one or two birds max to enjoy the feeder.

I really like the design and size of this hanging feeder. I bought two and followed the directions to add the small plastic zip ties to each corner for extra sturdiness. I set out raw peanuts in the feeder the same afternoon as I received the feeders. When I checked them the next day, one corner on each feeder was drooping. The lightweight chain between the top hook and attached to the flat mesh feeder had broken and not in the same place in both feeders. I bought these to attract squirrels so they'd leave my suet feeders alone. I'm sure the weight of a squirrel must be too much for these chains to hold. I will keep the feeders as I like the design and length. I will run supporting flexible wire from the top hook to the mesh feeder on both feeders as I'm sure the other chains will eventually break.

The media could not be loaded.  I hang this outside my office window. I get flocks of House Finches feeding from it in winter. It can accommodate about 6 birds at once. It is only small so I have to refill it each day with sun flower kernels.

The tabs on the corners are so flimsy that they break off easily.. need a better solution like being thicker at the corners for bigger screws maybe?
