Grandson loves it.
I purchased this game for my grandson who loves hot wheels. It is one of the few games I can play with him and be able to have some understanding of what I'm doing. It is not very involved, but a lot of fun. I recommend it if they like racing games.

Decent PS1 racing game
I very much enjoyed my time with this, I didn't have too much experience with this as a kid, but always remembered that one day I rented it. After all these years, I still had a lot of fun playing it. Along with 'Turbo Racing', this is an enjoyable Hotwheels racing game, though it still leaves a lot to be desired. You have a selection of 8 cars, 4 of which are unlocked at the start, the rest are unlocked as you progress through the single player championships. There are 6 cups to race, 3 of which are just reversed versions of the first 3, and each cup having a secondary and tertiary objective to do one after the other. You start with beating the cup, getting 100,000 points, then getting 150,000 points (in that order), having to return to the cup one after the other, but still receiving a reward after each completion. Each vehicle has a land, water, air, and all-terrain variant, all controlling differently, the two ground transformations being very similar. It should also be noted that the plane will move up and down on it's own according to the terrain, so you should only focus on left and right movement along with the other transformations. In the garage, each vehicle offers their own statistics, but can then be raised as you're offered 'gears' used as upgrade points. Land, water, and air each have two slots for 'speed + acceleration' as well as 'handling' to aid your racing, but be aware that the upgrades only affect that transformation noted by the pictures on the left side of the screen, so also pay attention to what percentage of the track contains which transformation type, some tracks contain alternate routes as well. In multiplayer, you're offered 3 gears to use, but in singleplayer, you begin with 1, but by completing each event you have a chance of getting another for a total of 6. The game supports 3 players with the multi-tap, as well as a feature that I don't see often, where you can adjust the camera's position in relation to your car. Though it's not much of a change overall, it's still cool to have the ability to do so. -Overall, I still think that this can be a pretty enjoyable game to play, as well as having a decent amount of replay value, with the cups having an option to replay them for more rewards.
