Hello Cat,The 0.5 is like a medium tip. Have you used a Pentel Energel 0.7 needle tip? The 0.5 on this Tombow is about that size.

Yes, I only use rollerball and I have the Azure, brown, and gold pens for the different point sizes - the Rollerball refill is 3-3/4" long. The black plastic collar is 1/8" that fits in the chuck or pen case point. The stop collar that keeps the point from extending any further is 3/4" from the refill tip. The barrel is 1/4" wide. The pen weight is a little heavier than I would like because I have small hands. I really loved the old Tombow Jr. pen, but still like the easy flowing waterproof ink.

There’s no red ink refill. Only black and blue refills. The red tombow pen writes these colours also. Hope that answers your question
