Great performances by all. Myra Wilson at the top of her form as the "old soul" in the body of an impossibly precocious little girl; Richard Attenborough's best performance in his life; Elizabeth Perkins simply gorgeous and believable as a "single mom who has lost her capacity to trust"; and Dylan McDermott as the suave yet sincere suitor. Supporting case was equally distinguished. The sets, the costumes, the camera angles, and more were all superb. I cry every time I see Elizabeth P. come into the living room and a (dare I say holy) light flickers off her new wedding right and startle and thrill Myra W.I'll be watching this mid-year as well. Unreservedly recommended.

We ordered this for our own home collection of legendary greats.My husband had never seen this movie and instead of finding it on streaming, I just bought it to make sure we always have it on hand.It will be a great reminder of the holidays once Thanksgiving gets here again and passes us over to the holiday seasons.Having it and seeing it on hand is much different than scrolling through holiday shows and getting sidetracked.It keeps the holiday spirit alive throughout the year.

First time seeing this and it's right up there with Its A Wonderful Life as far as Christmas movies.Sir Richard Attenborough and Mara Wilson are brilliant in their roles.The scene where Richard has a conversation with a little deaf girl is deeply touching, as I found out later that Richard had learned sign language and asked that the little deaf actress not be told that he would sign with her, the look of joyful surprise on the actresses face is her real time reaction to his ability to sign with her. Beautiful.Well done good sir.

This the the US 2009 Disc with English and French Audio along with English and Spanish subtitles. No Extras.I think that this a reasonably good remake of the 1947 film, although I still prefer the original, this is still full of the christmas spirit and good performances all round

This movie was a true masterpiece and kept you shrouded of mystery. Is he santa claus or is he not? The movie allows you to decide that. Still for my first time watching this, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It is not often that a classic film, let alone one tied so closely to the holidays, can be remade and not seem like a 2nd rate attempt at capturing a previous glory. I am here to attest that the remake of the classic Miracle on 34th Street, does the original justice and provides more than a little magic of it's own.If your children are anything like mine, if it is black & white then it is if no interest... and that is where this film earns it's first star. The remake is a colored contemporary take on a classic and timeless theme.It earns it's 2nd star for the story itself, meaningful and beautiful. Perfectly suited for the holidays and offering reminders to us all about who we are, who we want to be and what society needs to be successful.The 3rd star comes from it's faithful representation of the original while still creating a little of it's own identity.The 4th star comes from the wonderful cast, most notably the exquisite Richard Athen borough, who could not be a more perfect choice.Finally, the 5th start in my 5 star rating comes from the shear magic of having the family sit down together during the holidays and entertains without screaming, explosions, robots, profanity etc....Christmas still has means to be special, this film is one of the easier ways to help achieve that.
