The Psalms: A Primer for Prayer Paperback – January 5, 2021

I like this book's brief introduction that reveals the authors understanding of the Psalms as prayers of the Messiah and how Christians should relate to the Psalms in their own prayers while avoiding self-aggrandizement. Their helpful notes for each Psalm reflect what they surmise the Messiah is praying for his Church and offer suggested prayers for believers to adopt based on each Psalm. This fills a gap where other works fall short and compliments commentaries on the Psalms that may lack the practical emphasis of prayer. I also like the authors' literal-grammatical-historical approach to the Psalms too. Thanks Dr. Barrick & Mr. Kress. May God use you to keep designing and publishing more helpful books.

As a guide to interact with the Psalms -- so good for strengthening and growing a prayer life.

I loved the concept and the layout that allows one to read both the passages and the content.

My wife and I had the privilege to sit under Bill Barrick's teaching for a significant portion of the time he taught through the Psalms in the Adult Bible Fellowship at Placerita Baptist Church (now Placerita Bible Church). A key portion of each week's classes was using the particular Psalm to guide your prayers.Bill's book is an outworking of his years of teaching the Psalms and I highly recommend this book for any believer. The Psalms give us encouragement when we are down, exhortation, model repentance for when we sin, and point us to Christ. This book helps guide believers in both understanding and through praying each Psalm.This book will be a valuable daily resource for all Christians.
