Dark Goddess Tarot

To begin with, the outside of the box is nice and steardy but the inside was a disappointment as it doesn't hug the cards nicely (which could end up in the cards being damaged, so I had to store the cards in a string bag instead.)The quality of the cards themselves is okay. But what I totally fell in love with is the guidebook! I have many Tarot decks and I wasn't sure if I needed this in my collection, but after having read the guidebook I have to say: if you are on the fence about getting this deck, buy it - if only for the guidebook! It gives you a lot of information on every Goddess and great practical interpretations of the card meanings. I don't use this deck for big card spreads but it is fantastic for daily card draws and self-discovery work.

These cards are excellent quality. From just a physical perspective they come in a huge (relative to the size of the cards themselves!) presentation box (matt laminated with a magnetic closing) and there is an A5 full colour guide book in the box. The cards themselves are glossy and have a lovely foil blocked gold edge. They were stuck together a little when they arrived but that's just a result of the many printing & finishing processes they have had to go through to be so beautifully finished.In terms of the cards as a Tarot Deck the guide book not only provides you with the myth or legend behind each goddess depicted but also gives you the relevant meaning related to your reading. The meanings are suggestive rather than prescriptive though so they provide points for self reflection.If you enjoy the work of Clarissa Pinkola Estes then you will know that the historic myths hold within them some deep symbolism - often reading the tales is sufficient enough to awaken the part of you that needs further understanding. However, the book gives you guidance if you need it.This is a fantastic collection of myths in itself and, as many of the goddess myths were downgraded over time in favour of the ones featuring gods it's wonderful to see such a n amazing collection of historic tales from across the world featuring women. It's a beautifully thought out and illustrated deck. If you've never bought a deck before (or even if you are a collector and have numerous decks!) and you feel drawn to this one then I can't imagine you would be disappointed.I can't rate it highly enough.

Gorgeous deck, great stock thickness and beautifully packaged, BUT the cards stick so badly it tore 6 of the cards trying to separate them! I would return bc it’s too expensive to be torn before getting to use.

I am in the process of waiting for a replacement product after dealing with a couple of significant problems with my deck. The insert was torn, as others have described, and most of my deck was stuck together in large clumps, requiring careful separation to use the cards. After trying to do this with ten or fifteen cards, after half an hour (which damaged the ink on the cards in parts) I grew very frustrated and arranged a return. For the price, this should not be happening. The cards should not be sticking together like this. Some cards were so badly stuck together I could barely find a way to separate them. I hope the replacement deck is in better condition. I was so very disappointed as the book and deck look amazing but the labour required to make the deck usable is ridiculous. Surely this is a faulty deck? Poor quality for such a high price.Update after exchange: sadly, the replacement deck was stuck together even more so than the original. Ink peeled off some cards when trying to carefully separate them. There is something seriously wrong with this deck. I've contacted the manufacturer and they say a new version is coming out in a couple of months. I will hold out for that and hope my feedback was taken into account by the designers. I've now returned this for a refund.
