An inspiring look at young climate change activists who are changing the world from author Loll Kirby and illustrator Adelina Lirius. The world is facing a climate crisis like weโve never seen before. And kids around the world are stepping up to raise awareness and try to save the planet. Kids are not staying silent about this subjectโtheyโre going to make a change. In this appealing picture book, meet 12 young activists from around the world who are speaking out and taking action against climate change. Learn about the work they do and the challenges they face, and discover how the future of our planet starts with each and every one of us. โVibrant, expressive pen and ink illustrations supplement the text. A great purchase for school and public libraries that highlights how children can effect change. โ โ School Library Journal "Inspiring fare for the next generation of world savers.โ โ Kirkus Review: children and climate change - "Old Enough to Save the Planet," authored by Loll Kirby and beautifully illustrated with pen-and-ink drawings by Adelina Lirius, recounts the stories of 12 international child activists working to combat the effects of climate change in their immediate environments. With informative, personalized text and beautiful full-color illustrations, the book offers the motivation for the children's involvement in their individual causes, their solutions to the problem, and the impact of their actions. Adeline Tiffanie Suwana from Indonesia, for example, works to combat the flooding that has resulted from human devastation of the environment by encouraging people to replant mangrove trees, create protected areas in the sea, and educating others about the effects of human activity. In addition to the children's activities, the book provides factoids of information that underscore the topic at hand and further explicate details about the impact of changes to the natural environment and the importance of biodiversity. The book, which is variously reported as for children aged 6-8 or 8-12 years is well-conceived and well-executed. In my opinion, with the assistance of a parent or older sibling, the book is appropriate for children 6-12 years of age. A major problem, however, is the fact that the factoids are printed in a very small font size and are not highlighted in bold text for improved visibility. Value enhancements are the book's inclusion of ways in which climate change and its effects can be mitigated, things to be done to make children's voices heard, and a list of further reading. Highly recommended. Review: Great book to inspire! - Happy Earth Day! We all want to do our part to fight Climate Change and to take care of our Mother Earth. What better way in educate and inspire than with a book. ๐ Old Enough to Save the Planet is a perfect way to show children how they can make a difference by giving them examples of their peers. Author Loll Kirby provides short summaries of twelve children from around the world who saw a problem and found a way to help. While Adelina Lirius brings these examples to life in eye catching illustrations that will leave the reader inspired. The โhow to helpโ section in the back is especially wonderful: giving your young reader the tools to start their own journey towards saving our planet.

A gorgeous take action book!
Right now it may seem like thereโs nothing we can do to save the state of our country but a glimmer of hope is books like this that help us to reach the children in our lives; to make sure we are teaching the next generation to care for others and our Earth. This beautifully illustrated book shared the stories of real-life children who are taking action to help save the planet. Whether it be using less plastic, saving the trees, the ocean or the bees the way this books gives factual information along with the accounts of real-kid heroes makes it a must read for all to help inspire, change and make our world better. the action steps at the end of the book give extra information for kids to help.

Empowering and informative
A beautiful book with a very important message. I used this book with my class as part of our RE topic on caring for God's creation. The book is completely secular but was great for providing ideas of ways that the children could make changes to care for God's world.
