can be leaky but works
Clay lamps tend to leak even if glazed. Mine leaks but extremely slowly, overall it works very good but it holds only a tiny amount of olive oil, so if you actually use it for something besides a display piece you need to monitor oil levels frequently, as olive oil lamps tend to smoke when they are low on oil. it is definately a good lamp, whether you want it for display or for actual use, just research how these work if you intend to use them, they are not the same as modern oil lamps.

It Leaks
I like the look. But its quite small. I put a combo of olive oil and canola in it. It leaked. So I cleaned it thoroughly and applied two coats of marine varnish. It still leaks. It may be because when you put more than a tablespoon or so of oil in it, it leaks out of the spout that the wick emerges from. But one table spoon of oil would burn up very quickly. Also, using the combo of oil I chose, even with just a stub of the wick outside the vessel, creates a tall flame with black smoke coming off the tip of the flame. At first I decided not to worry about that...BUT I WISH I HAD! I ended up with a coating of greasy black soot all over EVERYTHING in my apartment--literally EVERY surface. I am having to scrub everything down with an ammonia /soap solution. And I am going to have to wash all my, curtains, slip covers and throws in the same. Even my walls are needing to be scrubbed now. I might experiment with using a different oil--maybe pure olive oil, or parafin. I really love the design and the fact that it is a replica of an ancient lamp. It goes perfectly with my replica of the 38,000 year old Venus of Willendorf.

Beautiful but not necessarily practical
This is a beautiful authentic lamp. I had a trip planned to Israel in March of 2020 but it was cancelled due to the “pandemic”. I bought this lamp as a keepsake of a trip not taken. The only negative is that when I added the oil , it seeped through the clay and made lamp sticky. I ended up purchasing another and will keep it dry .

As with all things using fire, be careful!!!!
just a word of caution: it is not glazed so oils/fuels such as kerosene or patio torch fuels will seep through. I had the whole thing ablaze! But it made it though the ordeal it unscathed!!!I might take it down to a local pottery shop and have it glazed to prevent that from happening. But a nice little light - I used it for a sermon example and it helped me deliver the point.

Very nice replica
Very nice replica. Appriciate that no made in notes are on it. Price was just right as I was looking to pay $10.00 or less. To go over a couple dollars was ok. Looks nice on bookshelf.

A small but sturdy and functional replica
The clay oil lamp arrived in a timely fashion, packaged well to prevent breakage. It was a little smaller than I expected, but it is still functional. It even came with a wick!
