NO instructions how to get internal temperture
No instructions on how to get both internal and external readings. Has prob for outside temp but can't figure out how to get both as advertised. Item was shipped with only one probe. To get both inside and outside temps you must have two probs. You must remove the back cover to set dip switches to receive the readings you want. C or F I called the company and they immediately sent me out another total unit at no cost. It also only had one probe in it but that's all I needed to get the first one to work. I installed it in my restored 1993 Toyota pickup and love it. I have it set to (dip switch 2 & 4) to alternate back and forth from inside to outside temperatures. I also put a small toggle switch on it so it won't be flashing all the time especially at night. Love it! Works great!

Not for battery powered applications, uses to much power.
Their is a manual on parts express website for this device...but the video review on Amazon was excellent to explain what the dip swtiches do.I bought this to stick in my cars open storage slot under my radio in the dash to display the temperature inside the cab. I want it always on and as it's LED, I can see it at night... and thought it would be fine being battery powered. Nope! The voltage range advertised that this product will run of off....it will work fine with a 9v battery...but only for 24hrs or so...a lithium 9v only lasted about 48hrs. I do not want to hardware to cig adapter power adapter as mine turns off with the ignition. The unit it self isn't as acurate and fast updating as a $3 button cell battery powered LCD temperature gauge I got at my local hardware store. That's been running for nearly 6 months just fine.O well.

Clean and neat
Finding a 12V thermometer with an external probe wasn't easy, but when I came across this unit I figured I'd give it a shot. The size of the display seems a bit large for automotive use in my opinion, and the blue is far too bright at night. I ultimately had to order a red display which is tolerable to me, but still brighter than any other gauge in the car. The graduations are very far apart for some reason - approximately 1.7 degrees F. Seems like they would have focused on accuracy rather than useless features like the auto Fahrenheit to Celsius changover by shining a flashlight on the display...Overall, I say it's a neat, well built unit for the price and is accurate enough to use as an automotive thermometer. Also, this would be good for many other applications where accuracy isn't critical.

So far so good. It is pretty accurate give or take a couple degrees, depending on where or what you are comparing it to.

Odd Interface!
The media could not be loaded. I bought a pair to use to monitor the temperature in my truck and of some amateur radio equipment in my ham shack. The first challenge was that there was no user manual provided in either of the two I bought. Contacting Parts-Express yielded a link to an on-line manual. As sent from the factory to alter the function of the display between Fahrenheit and Celsius you shine a flash light into the upper left hand corner in a semi-darken area. In the video I show this in action. Pulling off the back cover reveals four DIP switches that can change the function of the display choosing the temperature mode and selecting the channel to display. When set to automatically alternate between channels I didn't like the way the display indicated CH 1 and then the temperature of channel one and then CH 2 and its temperature. Better would be some small LEDs in the corners similar to the AM/PM indicators in a digital clock. When the thermometer is set to change channels with the flashlight the display blinks CH1 for a second and then displays the temperature reading and then back to CH1 for a second before displaying the temperature again. Too busy in my opinion for use in a vehicle. The chassis is a bit big, about 30% bigger than it needs to be to mount the display. The circuit board itself isn't that crowded.Between the missing manual, the odd blinking pattern of the display, having the use the flash light to change conditions (would a switch or two have been that hard to put in there?), and the large size the thermometer is just OK. It's a better fit for my amateur radio bench next to a similar sized volt meter then for use in my truck. The blue LEDs do look sharp.

Five Stars
Very nice piece of electronics at a price that's hard to believe. Great buy.

not this one
just one temp (inside temp) could not change to out side temp sensor. would not change per the direction.
