Couldn’t Put It Down
I couldn’t put Punky down. All the twists and turns. All the thoughts I had and theories, all for nothing.Just throw them out the window y’all.Because once you think you have something figured out, guess again!I loved the darkness of Punky, it was EVERYTHING.You want to put that skull make up on right along with him.I wanted revenge for his mother just as badly as he did.I loved how drawn Babydoll was to Punky even though she was there to ruin him and his family.Their connection 🤌🏼💋“It’s the dark where I thrive. I’ve seen the boogeyman. He doesn’t scare me anymore.”I had to dive right into Into Temptation. The ending had me mind blown.

Dissolves into a bad soap opera that never ends
After reading the blurb, I thought for sure this book will be good. It totally got my attention. And just look at all the 5 star reviews. This book has to be good.Wrong. So wrong. I’ll tell you why this book was a huge let down for me and where it went wrong. The book starts off with 5 year old Punky, male lead, witnessing three men brutally attack, rape and murder his Mom. It’s dark and gruesome. This moment marked the death of his childhood and these three men have changed Punky’s life forever. He vows no matter how long it takes, he’ll find these men and kill them. The death of Punky’s Mom was suppose to incite a war between the Kelly’s and the Doyle’s, but his Dad, Conner Kelly, never tried to seek revenge on anyone. When Punky asks his Dad why she died and who exactly murdered her, he never answers. Punky grows to hate his Dad for moving on, re-marrying, and having kids with his new wife. Another man who withholds answers is his Uncle, Sean. He actually has a good relationship with him and at one point wishing he was his actual father. However, it’s just another person with answers that are keeping secrets from Punky. Punky finally realizes that if he wants answers he’ll have to find them himself. Now, 16 years later, Punky’s on a mission to finally get answers about his Mom’s death and seek vengeance against the men that ended her life.Up until this point, which wasn’t that far into the book, I was intrigued. I wanted Punky to find out who murdered his Mom. The setup was good. It was dark, but still held my interest. Then enters Babydoll. This is where it goes downhill for me.This has to be the first book I’ve read where the female lead was a creeper. I did not get a romantic love interest vibe from her, but a woman becoming obsessed with Punky. Acting like they are perfect together even though she has no idea who he is really. You learn that Babydoll is on her own secret mission. To get information from him and give to the Doyle family. She’s just another person lying and keeping secrets from Punky. If she doesn’t do as she’s told, her family will suffer. She claims she wants to save her family and there’s a scene where she endures physical and sexual abuse from a bad guy so I thought for sure she’d stand strong in her conviction that she’s here to save her family, but no! She throws it all away because she wants to help Punky. Umm, but what about saving your family? The only reason you are here! Now, she’s a weak female lead. She had no plan to save her family after she chose Punky. She was going to see if Punky would help save her family in the end. Weak, weak, weak. Babydoll was not well thought out in my opinion as her story turned out to be lame and insignificant. She had no purpose. She was blinded by becoming obsessed with him and forgetting the reason she was really there. I felt she was thrown into the book to provide some steamy scenes with Punky. Which sadly, the first steamy scene was hard to enjoy because of the narrative. The narrative. Oh, man. I’ve never pinched the bridge of my nose so many times while reading. The narrative just went on and on. Let the dialogue speak for itself. That’s what it’s for! The dialogue can progress the story too. As Punky’s on the hunt for the three men, discovering the truth about his Mom’s death, and fighting an attraction towards a lying Babydoll, the narrative takes over the story. Instead of Punky slowly discovering the answers along the way, himself. It’s a bunch of half answers. Literally! The author would have a character start to reveal a truth only to be interrupted halfway through. Someone cutting them off, a phone ringing, or someone knocking at the door. It happens over and over. I believe the author was going for mystery and intrigue but, for me, it just caused a headache. Everybody was a bad guy at one point in this book. It was a stalling tactic to add more pages to the book. Nothing can be more frustrating than reading a padded book for length. At 80%, we start to see some concrete answers starting to form. This is where it gets ridiculous and I couldn't help but laugh and add the "Dun, dun, dun". It turns into a bad soap opera that never ends. There is a paternity test because it's revealed Punky's Dad might not actually be his Dad. And because of this, we find Babydoll might be his HALF-SISTER! Barf. I'm not into a book where the love interests have to get over each other because they might be related. I pushed myself to finish this book though because I paid for it. However, I believe this type of story needs to stay in the soap opera genre. It sucked out anything modern in this book, making the plot a very dated one. For the grand finale, the real bad guy fakes his death. There are more ridiculous twists to try to keep you guessing but these were the main 3 I couldn't get over. Bad dated soap opera here.Overall, the dated ridiculous plot and female lead is what ruined it for me. The one star if for the author using Irish dialect in her book. It made Punky more authentic to me.Sorry for the long review. I believe when it's a one star it needs to have the justification.

Buckle up for a wild ride!
Totally not what I expected...totally in a good way, though! Not once while reading Thy Kingdom Come did I want to set the book down. The story kept me flipping pages wondering what was going to happen next. And man, was it journey, and there's another 2 books to read! Lol! I'm so looking forward to finishing this series!

Addictive and Consuming
Monica has: Wrecked Me. Ruined Me. Slayed Me. With this story. I am absolutely head over heels in love with Punky. This book grabs you by the throat and pulls you in from the start holding you incapacitated until the final word has been read. And even after your done you are still enraptured, going back through the pages you have already read screaming that you need the rest NOW, It can’t end this WAY. Alas it does and Monica leaves you awash with so many conflicting emotions, but the one in the forefront is how much you loved this book!!Monica has this way with her words that calls to the dark side in us all. She weaves these tales that have you salivating at the depravity and the deviance occurring making you seriously question your moral compass. But at the heart of her books there is loyalty and honor, there’s love and devotion, there is need and dominance, and at the heart of this story there is revenge a living breathing entity always pulsing in a steady rhythm throughout. Not all love stories grow in the light, some need the dark to thrive and this is one of those stories. If you do not like cliff hangers, I would not recommend this because Monica throws you straight off the dang side of one and you hit every rock on the way down. But I personally do not mind them if I know one is coming. And I cannot wait to see what Monica brings us next. With how this story ended I am anxious and impatient to see how Punky grows from his experiences and to see the man that he has become. I am eager to get thrust into the darkness once again and letting it consume like only Monica can.

hugely disappointed although written well enough
I got really excited when i opened this book, so unusual to find a book written which takes place in my own country of Northern Ireland. Written as in the present day I just wanted to love it !!!It started quite well, but then I have to say that I was filled by disappointment, not because of the plot, nor how well it was written. It just couldn't and didn't work for me. Yes I know it's fiction and Yes the author did mention that she had done a little research with "Locals", well i'd love to know who they were, because they really let this author down.Firstly Southern Ireland and Northern Ireland are two different countries and the people are like chalk and cheese. Neither accents nor dialogue or speech, slang etc are the same. Unfortunately this author wrote the characters in Southern Irish slang and speech, which even at that is about 40 years outdated !! The Northern Irish characters also spoke in Southern Irish dialect and instead of enjoying the story it just confused and baffled me, and i found myself having to translate everything in my mind for it to make sense. At times i did find it a little offensive, we do not talk like that!!! And again yes i know its fiction !!! But so many things were down to poor, and little or no research done and it would have absolutely made this a super book !!As for the characters i did like them but again, lack of research .... Names !! Names, in Ireland say it all !!! No protestants families etc would be having the Irish Names like Connor, Liam etc unless they were Northern Irish Catholics !! Because you do know that for ever and a day, Catholics and Protestants in both North and Southern Ireland, do mix, have relationships and even get married !!! Yet again i was disappointed BOTH PARTS of Ireland are as different as U.S.A and Argentina ! It would have worked so much better if both families were Southern Irish, because the Northern Irish characters just Failed. The plot was good, the characters were good but their dialogue, names and dynamics might work for others who without knowledge think that people in Ireland still speak as they did 50 or 60 years ago. Culchies !! lol have not heard that in years !!! and Northern Ireland its never been used !! yer? we do say you.... bake? lol ermm well its most definitely not used as was in the book. Ride? that is as outdated and my grannys knickers !! The book was written well, but please PLEASE do your research !! If not maybe consider setting the novel in Ireland but with non Irish Characters

Deliciously dark
Where to even start! Right from the get-go this book starts dark af. It's gripping and action packed. This writing style was hard to get in to at first, the thick Irish accents were hard to read but once I got into it it was sooo good. So if you're struggling with the accent, stick it out and keep reading because it is so worth it. I can't wait for the next installment.
