Hiland 2 1/2" Pole THP-Burner-2.5 Part, Tall(Complete Burner), One Size, Grey

I was thinking about getting an entire new Hiland patio heater since I couldn’t get the knob on the burner to turn at all until I ran across this replacement part. It is an exact fit for my Hiland heater which is about 2 years old. Removal of the old burner was easy but I was surprised at how rusty the hardware that secured the heat shield was. Thankfully I was able to get it removed and I was able to reuse the hardware again. The regulator hose went down inside the main support tube smoothly and I was able to bolt on the new burner with the supplied new hardware to the support tube using a 10mm socket. It fired up on first push of the igniter!For those that are having problems with getting it lit the problem maybe your propane tank valve especially if it has been super cold and. It used regularly. Get a fresh tank of propane and give that a shot. Before getting a new tank, you can simply tap on the regulator using a small metal tool like a crescent wrench, remove the coupling to the tank, and then reattach it. When you turn on the tank valve, first tighten the valve firmly, then slowly loosen the valve. This usually works with older tanks that haven’t been used in awhile and when it is super cold outside.

UPDATE SEPT 2021: both units have failed at this point. The pilot on off valve is gummed up and ignition switch no longer sparking. Disappointing, waste of time and $. Time for new units.Original review:Overall very happy with this unit. It replaced a maxi heat unit that was 15 years old. I expected there would be some retrofitting to be done and it was principally in two areas. First the bottom mounting holes. My old unit had three this unit has four. So drilled three new holes in shaft. Second the heat shield holes didn’t line up with the existing heat shield. Buying a new one would have added $50 (for 3 piece shield which is cheesy) at which point the buy-new option vs fix becomes more attractive @$140-$160. So we removed the top plate from old burner unit to mark for drilling holes in new unit (new unit top is welded not screwed...however bottom of mesh screen is attached with screws which gives access for retrofit. Used old bolts to connect. Third...the old unit had a gas pipe in the riser pole (vs a hose like new unit). Removal was easy but the opening at bottom of riser pole was too small for regulator to fit down through so had to disconnect hose at top of new unit and then reattach. This work was all within our capabilities and existing tools available. And we have a second unit that will no doubt need replacement soon...so we will definitely go this route again. Hope the unit lasts 15 years like old one!!As for starting, I followed recommendations on other posts and it worked fine. Just takes a little more time than my old unit.

The 4 bolts that came with the heater head were too short to attach it to the base and the part that attaches to the post was a little too small diameter so it was very wiggly UNTIL you tightened the bolts. A quick trip to the hardware store solved that issue. with the right bolts it's very sturdy. Heater works great otherwise so far.

I didn’t think our heaters were that old but when we received these the connection to the pipe (support) was different. Instead of fitting on the inside it went on the outside. Maybe we measured incorrectly and had a 2” pipe and this was 2.5”. It was very loose and wiggled a lot. Our fix was taking a the neck of the old heater and switch it with the new neck. Perfect fit !! very happy that the new burner works well. We bought new reflectors and were a bit disappointed hardware (bolts and nuts) were not included. A trip to the store but it all works well now.

It took four hours to install this burner on my heater. The attachment flange was too small to fit on my heater tower even though the description size stated that it should have been compatable. I ended up cannabalizing my old flange to the heater to mount it on the tower.After installation I attempted to operationally check it out. I hooked up a full LP tank and tried to get the heater to ignite with no success. I couldn't see the piezo igniter sparking. I rechecked the LP line and there was gas getting to the regulator. I attempted to start it again using an independent flame source. I placed the lighter next to the piezo and attempted to get ignition, again with no success. Apparently no gas is getting to the burner.I would return this piece of junk, but I would need to disassemble the whole thing again. I've already wasted a half a day on this. Its going to the recycle center.

Use my heater in an exterior coastal setting. Rust and corrosion happens. This Hiland unit is easier and safer to buy than trying to problem solve the failure of individual parts within the propane combustion system. Easy removal of the old burner head and attachment of the new one. 30min max. Make sure to measure your burner pole to ensure this 2.5in attachment fits.

The Hiland complete burner replacement for my Hiland stand heater worked perfectly. The new design, by passing the pilot light, works great, it starts up every time. I highly recommend this burner head.

The unit appears to work fine, but required grinding the holes in the pole higher, and washering the longer screws to adapt the 2 inch base.
