I have a down leather couch and miserable to sit on. The cushions would just sink in and you constantly had to fluff it. I took out the old foam and used as template and did what others suggested and used a bread knife. It cut right through noooo problem. I added it in and kept the feather pouch as well and it is like a new couch. Firm....very firm even with feathers, you no longer sink.So if you are unsure and you want your couch brought back to life then just do it.I did let it sit for 3 days as other people suggested 4 but I have zero patience and that was the hardest part of the whole process.I did not notice any smell and I think it will hold up for a long time.

My mom gave me the bottom sections of a couch, without the foam cusions on top. Part of me wanted to just ditch it, but I wanted to look and try to see if I could find and use foam on my own. I was nervous to spend this much money on foam (I've never bought or used high-density foam and I'm not very big into DIY) so I was nervous that I was going to receive something that wasn't comfortable or worth it. Boy was I WRONG. This foam is, seriously, VERY high quality. It is VERY firm, does not sink down below you in an uncomfortable way, it honestly supports your weight in such a wonderful way. I love sleeping on it, it rivals my bed in comfort. Very very good material, while still being relatively light weight.The instructions say that once you receive it to open it immediately and to let it rest for 3-4 days before cutting/using, and I highly suggest you follow these instructions because I don't know if it would have worked out as well as it did - the foam comes packed VERY compressed and needs time to settle.Again, not big into DIY, so I took a bread knife to the foam to cut it down to size. It went okay for the first half, pretty clean cut, but the knife I used was small so by the time I was halfway through cutting it, I was sawing and making a mess (which is not recommended, please get a big knife and SCORE it!). I was feeling tired and didn't care as much since I knew I could push the "ugly" side against the wall (see the pic I uploaded).I couldn't be happier. I found a beautiful cover that I also got here on Amazon, and it worked perfectly. My cats are also obsessed with this couch, they sit and sleep on it all the time.

Purchased this foam to replace the cushions in my heavily used 4 year old couch. I followed other suggestions to immediately unwrap/inbox and let sit for four days to return to shape. It was not hard cutting the foam to size, I used a sharpie to trace out the shape (just a little bigger) and then used a long serrated bread knife to slice through the foam. It was a workout to stuff the foam back into the cushion covers but once in, what a difference!! The first week or two, the couch was very very firm and adjusting to the firmness takes getting used to. About a month now and still going strong. I bought two large rolls and replaced both my loveseat and couch cushions. I would purchase again in a heartbeat beat because it saved us from buying new couches and much much cheaper than paying someone to reupholster/replace cushions.

I have a great couch, but the couch cushions were sagging big time making the couch quite uncomfortable. In an attempt to save my couch I purchased this foam to replace the seat cushions. The order arrived quickly in a surprisingly small box, no smell at all to the foam, it expanded fully within 2 days and was very easy to cut to size. I originally started cutting it with an electric knife, however, I found it much easier and less messy to cut it with a long, sharp knife instead. My couch has been restored. It is comfortable again and looks like new. This foam is firm, yet has some bounce and is just like a new couch cushion. I do suggest knowing very clearly what size and thickness you need because once unboxed and expanded I do not know how you would be able to return it. Great product which I highly recommend.

So far, it's going on 4 days and I will still wait but I received as 5-1/2", called the supplier and she told me I need to wait 4 -7 days for it to "grow". Bought 2 pieces and one is still at 5-1/2" wide and the other one is about 5-3/4" now. It is what it is. I'm sure it will be fine for replacement couch cushions and I intentionally bought USA product to avoid any smell and yes, it does not smell.

I purchased two of these 30x80 replacement sofa cushions to make bunk mattresses for an RV. The material was very easy to cut to size down to 28x80 with an electric carving knife. I can't offer a rating on the durability of the material because we have yet to use the mattresses, but the foam feels dense, sturdy and like will hold up well.

This high density foam is exactly what my old couch needed to bring it back to life and usability. It is as firm as I wanted. thank you for this great product.

OMG! This cushion is amazing, it holds its shape against my big butt even after a whole evening watching tv, and it held it comfortably. My old cushions separated but this single one makes me feel secure at any spot on the couch and I cut it to shape the frame exactly. Love it and recommend it whole heartedly.
