An important book
A lot more important that it seems if you are not an academic. It is like a super lecture for us, the guy from the street.

A great theoretical contribution
After his masterpiece Social Acceleration, Rosa develops the new theory off resonance as a response to the ill effects of social acceleration and our loss of connection.

Outstanding: cogent and thorough
This book is not a short and easy read. The scholarship is impeccable and finely detailed. The translation preserves the flavor of thegerman original, which means it is clear but reading it means dealing with long sentences that hold the meaning to the end. And longer paragraphs. The book is not an easy popularization but a treatise that breaks new ground and defines new categories and concepts of thought to describe formerly ineffable experience. The author, a sociologist, draws liberally on philosophy, poetry and neuroscience as well as sociology in building his thesis. The book means to do for the concept of resonance what Newton did for the concept of energy: to create a term of precision where formerly there had been only vague and inconsistent notions. Hence, a work of well over 500 pages of dense but ultimately clear prose. Well worth the read.
