Santiago's Conquest (Four Dark Horsemen Book 1)

This book has got to be in the top 3 of my favorite books by VF Mason, and, quite possibly, my all times favorites as well. If you are a fan of this author’s books, and you are in the know about who the four dark horsemen (from her previous series) are, you are in for a treat!!! Imagine them entering a ballroom, four super hot dudes, in slow motion, like the damn Volturi, but like I said, super hot!!! They were there to raise hell!!!If this is your first read by this author, it can definitely be read as a stand-alone, and it will hopefully make you read the previous books surrounding some of the secondary characters from here.Santiago was everything that I wanted him to be!!! He is the smiling killer, hot as hell, but has no problem making you disappear should he feel like it. Briseis becomes a victim of her birth in a scene that was set up way before she was even conceived. However, she is not meek, and she doesn’t take anything without a fight. And she is very careful in how she chooses her battles too. Even though Santiago sees her as a means to an end when he first sets eyes on her, she becomes his everything, and he fights like hell for both of them to survive. She also makes the choice to accept his darkness, understanding the drive behind it. There were lots of funny scenes as well, not to mention the sexy ones!!! Those are probably the hottest ones I read from this author!! So good 🤭 Also, very special mention, Santiago’s pet. OMG. Go read this book!!

It's no secret I'm a sucker for a serial killer, stalker, psychopath, etc, and also for a damaged hero! Throw in a hero that chugs Tequila and I'm over the moon! V.F. Mason clicked all my boxes with this one.Forced into a marriage with a monster, Briseis struggles to make peace with the knowledge that her husband is a killer and other revelations that send her world spinning. From the early chapters of this book, these two set the pages on fire with their sexual chemistry, Santiago's filthy mouth, and their lust-fueled escapades. Have mercy! That library scene alone just about did me in!I loved every heartwrenching moment of this story. The friendships formed in innocence that stood the test of time, the bonds formed in fire and blood that remained on the fringes but stayed strong when it mattered, and the old relationships are torn in two by monsters seeking to destroy, I was never bored for a single minute. Santiago is definitely on top of my list of favorite characters. I wanted so much to wrap him up in a huge hug and never let anyone hurt him again.We also got intriguing looks into the three remaining dark horsemen and from the glimpses we were given, I cannot wait to see what's in store for them!

This writer is one of my love/hate authors. I loved Psychopaths Prey, Callum’s Hell, Land Where Sinners Atone. All 5 stars. Enjoyed Micaden’s Madness. I was unable to finish this book. Too much time spent on flashbacks. I dislike books that go back and forth in time. It disrupts the flow of the story. It makes it difficult for me to become invested in the story. That type of story seldom works for me. I found the characters uninteresting. No positive feelings for Briseis. Santiago is the type of character I am usually attracted to but not in this story or with Briseis. I would recommend this writer but not this book.

Humanizing serial killers is not an easy thing to do. However, the Heroes' in this series should get a medal for their public services. The subject/ moral, of the story is child predators being exterminated so beware of possible abuse triggers. The sex scenes are at times repetitive but explicit and hot. I am not the kind of reader to buy up every book in a series that is over 3-4 books due to most 'cookie cutter' stories in each consecutive book. I've made an exception for this one and will buy any others that the author writes in this series.

5 PHENOMENAL STARS!! Here we go again....another phenomenal book by this fabulous author. I loved this dark twisted story from the beginning to the end. If you haven't read this author start with this book.

Brieis and Santiago have painful pasts. Brieis never knew love. Santiago only now knows pain. They have great chemistry and are drawn to each other. There are steamy scenes. The plot has twists and surprises . There is some graphic violence. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Loved this book. Had a lot of dark themes, but he found the love of his life who helped him cope with all the demons he was struggling with. Had a great HEA.

This read was fantastic. I was transfixed. Literally addicted to this book. I could not but it down. The action, the passion and the plot had me. I was emotionally involved . I can not wait to read about the 3 other Dark horseman. You have sucked me into their universe.

Weirdly written and very unrealistic. There's a lot of backstory info missing and so aspects of the characters just don't make sense. The story doesn't make sense really and I was frustrated reading it.

One of the best books I’ve ever read. Wonderfully dark and super hot. The characters are interesting and the backstory very engaging. Cannot wait for more in this series.

Another great read by Mason!!
