MEECO'S RED DEVIL 2 LB Powdered Creosote Remover

We've been using this product for about 4 years now. We've never had a problem with shipping. My most recent order was shipped in a paper envelope. Product container has no secondary seal of any kind. Hence, when I opened the envelope I got a lung full of creosote destroyer. After explaining the situation to Amazon customer service, they are very kindly shipped out another container in exactly the same way. Now I have two envelopes full of creosote destroyer. As I recall, the product works pretty well. But I'm going to switch to something that ships with a little more care for the health, safety and satisfaction of the customer.

As others have mentioned for the price should include a plastic measure for putting in fireplace, I just used the one from Rutland cleaner. After using the Rutland brand last year it was notable the amount of creosote that flaked off when I brushed the chimney so these cleaners do have a positive effect.The Red Devil I decided to try as a 2 lb can and will provide a more inclusive overall review after my first Jan cleaning. I burn firewood from October to April.The material itself is interesting compared to Rutland as does look like garage sweepings with a slight kerosene odor. We will see after the first sweep in a few months. 9/23/2023 update....I decided to clean the chimney today and the amount of fluffy creosote at the bottom of the flue was amazing, so much that I will be removing the bottom pipe more often....this stuff really works.

Product is fine and does what is supposed to but it is shipped in a plastic bag. First one came with the lid busted and product filling the bag. Sent it back and the second one came in the same condition. If you don't mind that, it's fine.

My fireplace guys swear by this even though it means less business for them. I was skeptical, but tried it anyway since chimney fires are far too common in this part of the country. I used it every 8-10 fires last winter and the stove looks cleaner than when I started the season. It doesn't smell great so hold your breath when you scoop it into the fire. Otherwise it arrived in good shape and does what it says.

In my entire adult life in which I've owned homes with wood fireplaces, I've never had a chimney fire or even suspect I've been close to one. But it seems to be best practice to wring one's hands over the possiblity that the dread scurge, CREOSOTE, will someday decide to awaken from its dormancy and burn my house down. So I bought this tub o' stuff to take care of it. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't... who's to say? I have no idea if this is a good purchase or not. It might have saved my house from burning to the ground or maybe it is just a good placebo. It isn't too expensive, so I guess it's cheap insurance if it works and if it doesn't then I'm not throwing too much cash into the firebox.

Product fine. However, arrived in packaging with the lid off. What a big mess!

This stuff really works great, I burn a lot of wood and have seen the difference in creosote buildup reduction since I started using this. The downside with buying it on Amazon is the lid comes off the container and all the (as I imagine highly toxic) powder fills the shipping bag which is not completely sealed. Just buy this stuff locally if you can.

This pile of crap showed up today with the mail lady laughing its leaking lol I certainly didn't find this a laugh out loud moment . I would like all money back and you can have a pile of what appears to be dust of a shop floor
