Portsmouth 5"x5" Vinyl Lamp Post

I was reluctant to purchase vinyl lamp post because I have seen many whose finish fades, dulls and frankly, looks like a piece of ill-formed plastic. These are surprisingly well-detailed with excellent finish, sharp highlights and a quality finish that looks like high-gloss paint at 10 feet away. The enclosed instructions were very well written. I actually placed one post over an old, dull aluminum post that was still solid. After wiring, I used some of the foam packing material to fill in the interior space and used the enclosed screws to attach the new post to the old. It looks great. After 6 months and a hard winter, these posts still look brand new.

We bought this post to match our vinyl porch railings and mailbox post and we couldn’t be happier. We mounted it over an ugly existing black metal post. The instillation was easy and the directions were easy to follow. We did not use the lower sleeve that is driven into the ground. We found this unnecessary due to the secure old pole and cement below the ground. The vinyl post slides over the existing post and is secured with screws that are covered by the trim collar. Leveling was easy; we checked the old post first and that was level. As we screwed the post into position we held a level in place and kept checking that all was level. It looks great at night with an LED light sensor bulb! If you are not covering an existing post you need to use a 4X4 post that is set into the ground securely and this would add a bit more time to the instillation.

There was nothing to dislike about this lamp post. It makes a landscape statement better than I visioned. I Love it. It's 5" x 5" which sets is apart from the standard 3" poles but also the molding extras really adds details that makes this Lamp a beautiful accent to our landscape. The video instructions were very easy to follow as were the written and picture instructions provided for assembly. Our install took about 1 hour total. This lamp post is manufactured by New England Arbors. I highly recommend it. Outstanding buy and great price. There was an issue with shipping but the error was due to the postal service. The shipping was delayed by one day and we had to pick it up from the post office, otherwise the shipping may have been delayed additional days.

Well we got the post on delivery time as said by shipping. We got the post up this summer, Wow, Wow and then some. the post looks nice and goes great with the cottage look of the house. We got a home improvement Man in town to install it. Us old ladies thought it might go better that way. He said the directions were good to follow and the glue that was sent work out well. He has worked with other glues and had problems and will look for this brand of glue for other projects in the future that has PVC material in the kit. Before I ordered,I read some folks had a hard time with the glue sent in the kit. So the handyman was told not to stress over the glue sent ,but to choose with what he knew best for the job. So to my surprise he used the glue and he realty liked it. That was my only concern about the kit. I love the look and all my neighbors said, they might look to go solar soon. Now we need to work on that flowerbed. Fear not , ordering this line product.

I ordered two posts and they look great and with the 4x4 post they are sturdy. Easy to mount. One draw back is the plastic parts that have to slide onto the main post had to be trimmed just a bit for fit. I took one stare off due to the poor fit of the trim.

These things are great. We had existing 3” aluminum lamp posts that were over 30 years old and anchored in the ground using concrete. As indicated in other reviews you can just slide these over top of the existing pole. There will be a gap though that will allow the new post to move around so what I did to solve that problem was buy two 6’ 1x4s and 2 8’ 1x3s (since they don’t sell 6’ pieces) from Home Depot or Lowe’s. Cut to the appropriate length and use those to surround the existing pole. That made the fit perfect. Took me about a half a day to replace 4 of these including removing all the old lamps, installing these, and putting on the new lamps. Looks terrific and my wife was thrilled.

The gluing process knocked a star from the 'easy to assemble' grade, just because it's a bit awkward and not easy to get right without getting on yourself. That said, the directions are clear and the products fit well and look good. I appreciated the 3" neck for mounting our lamp, which saved money and I think looks better AND is stronger than purchasing and using a lamp-base adapter on a square top post. I'm very happy with this product.

Beautiful. Easy to assemble.. I would recommend this product 100%.... We also bought from Amazon a beautiful solar light to make it look stunning and I love the fact no wires...
