Q: I have a hardwired traditional 3 way setup with 2 locations, will this work?

Thanks for the question. You replace the complete setup for that fixture. To explain further: the D26HD will be installed in the primary location (controlling the fixture). All other connected locations controlling this same fixture will require a DD00R (wired option) or DAWDC (wireless option) in order to control. Cannot use existing standarddevices as these devices also have intelligence to keep track of light status.

Q: Does the 2nd generation plug still connect to 5gh?

No, it does not. 2nd Gen devices only work with 2.4 GHz networks.
