beautiful, hopeful and heartbreaking
please check trigger warnings, just in case🤍a little bit of a slow start, but so beautifully written. the chapters flip between the past, and the present of josh navigating life after loss. my favourite parts were the flashbacks and memories of their life together, my heart did little jumps. everyone deserves to be loved the way that joshua park loves lauren. a sad yet epic love story. i did enjoy how real it all felt reading it, super emotional and my heart did want to break a few times reading this. radley was one of my favourite characters in the book, everyone needs a friend like radley. the ending and epilogue was just so perfect! it was a 3 stars for me until that ending, loved it!

Heartbreaking yet warm and hopeful.
Kristan Higgins just gets better and better. Her books are much more, especially now, than just romance, and this novel is truly heartbreaking but she still manages to inject the humour that’s almost her trademark. It follows Joshua, who has Asbergers, and his adored wife, Lauren, throughout their three year marriage as she grows more and more sick with pulmonary fibrosis. After her death he discovers she has left him 12 letters, one to be read each month of the following year, each one with a challenge for him. How he deals with the grief and sadness is the essence of the book, but although you’ll need a tissue -make that a box of tissues - it’s actually a book that celebrates family, friendship and hope. It’s fantastic and I hope it becomes popular here in the UK too.
