Beautiful poems for young and old!
I really love this book. My children (5 and 8) also really enjoy opening a page at random and reading a poem. So glad I bought it - it’s a favourite already.

A must have poetry anthology
This is a poetry anthology that should be on every bookshelf. It's written by girls and woman and has a wonderful breadth of poetry topics and styles. Anna Shepeta's illustrations bring the poems even more to life as you explore the pages. The two previous anthologies by Nosy Crow - I Am the Sees That Grew the Tree and Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright! - had a poem for each day of the year (they're both amazing). The rule follower I am I almost felt a little naughty reading ahead. This collection has moved away from this style and has left me gorging on this book at times and perusing at leisure. My daughter loves listening to me read poetry to her and she was so excited to see that some of the poetry was written by girls her age; what an uncredible inspiration to young ones. I urge you to read the introduction pages written by curator Ella Risbridger. She reminisces about her granny gifting her a self made poetry anthology that she treasured. It reminded me of something that I'd long forgotten, that as I child I used to re-write out poems I found that I loved in a special book. Yes, it's a beautiful selection of poetry that's stunningly illustrated but it could also very much ignite the poets of the future. What a special book - one that would make a perfect gift.

A beautiful poetry collection.
'This is a book that will inspire every reader to think, to hope, to act- and to live every moment of their lives to the full.'This is a stunning anthology of poems that has been beautifully illustrated. We have loved dipping in to this book to share poems together. It contains well- loved poets and newer voices. It's one of our favourite bedtime activities to each choose a poem to read at bedtime. The illustrations in this book make it so enjoyable to read. They are exceptional. Some of our favourites include Wherever by Jackie Hosking, Ghost in the Garden by Berlie Doherty and Rosa Parks by Jan Dean (after my daughter had learnt about her at school.)This book would make a beautiful gift and would be a perfect addition to school libraries. The recommended reading age is 6+I love this quote by Ella Risbridger'I hope the poems in this book light your way to all sorts of things. Think of these poems not like still pictures, but more like doors: things you can push on, and that will open to other things. '

Lovely book but Amazon always send them out dirty/marked
Lovely book but I would buy elsewhere maybe. They always come so dirty from Amazon. Sometimes something sticky on them or opened.

Perfect Poetry Book
A beautiful book, gorgeously illustrated on every page and edited intelligently by Ella Risbridger, celebrating the diversity and creativity of poets who are women or girls (or non-binary). Bought as a gift for a teenage relative, but I read it all first, and loved the variety and joy of the poems.
