Our most-played game
My husband and I like playing games once or twice a week and this Big Box provides plenty of variety, which can be hard to find when playing with only two people. We have tried all of the expansions at least once and now that we've had this box over a year, we often play two or three expansions at a time. It is fun to pick and choose what kind of game we'll have and to gauge how long it will take by selecting either a few mini-expansions or some of the larger ones. We also pull this game out A LOT when we have guests over. We find the base game easy to teach to visitors and on subsequent visits they'll often request to play again. My parents, who owned the base game for several years, ended up giving it away and buying this Big Box instead because they liked ours so much. To me, that says a lot about Carcassonne's playability because my dad can remember any rule you throw at him, but my mom...not so much. And she can still follow and enjoy these expansions. Is this expensive? Yes. But if you don't already own any of these expansions, this is a cost-effective way to get them! Even if you already own the base game, both Traders & Builders and Inns & Cathedrals cost $18. If you figure each of the five mini-expansions is worth $8 (and you can't get them anywhere else as far as I'm aware), that's $76 worth of tiles and playing pieces right there. I bought the Big Box for around $90 and I would do it again. Also, in case you're curious, our other favorite games for two players are Sequence (30ish mins), Machi Koro (45 min-1 hr), and Power Grid Deluxe (1.5-2 hrs). As much as we like those, however, Carcassonne is definitely the most-played game in our house!

More Carcassone, More Value
There is a reason Carcassone is still regarded as a "gateway" game. It is basically fun in a box. A BIG box that is! Eleven expansions plus the base game. You do not need the expansions to make Carcassone a great game, it is that in and of itself. However this is exactly why the expansions complement to the base game well, they are what expansions are supposed to be: add ons to a great recipe, not meant or needed to replace or fix a broken base game. The actual gaming experience thus far has been pretty much perfect from a "fun factor" standpoint. Certain expansions included here add new tiles to the base game (The River, Inns and Cathedrals as examples) and that is really my favorite part, being able to expand even more through tile placement. When playing with all the expansion tiles, I need a second table to fit them all!Keep in mind as well that you can mix or add any amount of expansions to play at any one time. All are compatible with one another and any can also be played by itself with the base game. You can also play all included in the big box but I myself have not attempted this (yet). This big box certainly gives you a lot of value if you already do not own many of these expansions. The box comes with an included insert and instructions on inside of lid on how to organize it properly. Very good rule book separating explanation of all expansions clearly.I can honestly tell you the only drawback is not having more time to play this! And by that I do not mean the game length is long, it is not long at all in fact unless you add a high amount of expansions in a single game.If you like Carcassone and only have a few expansions, get this. If you are new to Carcassone and think you may like it, get this, because it really is a fantastic game all about creating your own Carcassone through tile placement then vying for control of cities, roads, monasteries etc. which lead to victory points. In either case the value given in the big box is well worth it.Fun Fact: You can actually fit everything featured in Big Box Carcassone in the original base game only Carcassone box. It's a little surreal! So if you have original Carcassone and are worried about space, that might be a solution for you!

Great Box Set
This box set contains the base game and many expansions including two primary expansions which are probably the best to start with. When you play the game with all the included expansions enabled, it can easily triple the length of the base game with all the additional tiles and mechanics that they enable. This is an economical and efficient way to get all these expansions in one. My only major complaint is that it becomes somewhat tedious to separate the expansion materials out when I want to play with new people, as the number of expansions that are included here turn a fairly easy-to-learn-hard-to-master game into something that is also somewhat daunting to learn for new players. If you have never played before, I would suggest only playing the base game with no expansions your first time.About the game: Carcassonne is a fantastic board game that is simple to learn but has a great level of depth. Building a zany, eccentric map with tiles is just fun. It sort of scratches at that building and puzzle making urge while still being a fun, competitive board game. Also, its not nearly as resentment-building like Catan. This game is easy to approach as someone who does not traditionally plays board games and wants to skip out on long manuals (although like I said above, I would highly suggest NOT playing with the expansions in your first games)
