Must have books
These are great and the only books to start your kid reading with. My daughter 4.5 years old has read 9 books already with my little help since I received it, 1 month back. She loves it and enjoys reading these books. Very happy with my purchase. Highly recommend bob books.

Best books to learn to read.
I am a homeschool mom of 6 kids. I am currently teaching my 4th child to read. I have a basket full of "easy" learning to read books, they just sit in the cabinet! Why? They are not for beginners!Bob books are the only books that I have found that I can teach reading with! You would think that simple consonant vowel consonant words (CVC) that can be sounded out style books would be easy to find but this is NOT true! Don't be fooled by phonics fun, or step into reading books, the are not for learning to read.Yes, these book's plot lines are mind-numbingly boring in the first several books and the drawings are extremely simple, but people are missing the point..... These books are not written to be curled up with by an adult to get lost in for a lazy afternoon read! They are to teach reading! Complex plots and busy colorful pictures are a distraction for young minds. We want them to focus on learning to decode the words, not guess them by the pictures. This COLLECTION (not set) are the larger books which is a nice size for early readers. The smaller books are ok, but these bigger book are good for both the grown up and the child to point out words and letters together. Note this is collection 1, order collection 2 for the next group of books. The sets are smaller groups of books, you get multiple sets of books in the collections.Highly recommend these for children learning to read. Even if you are not homeschooling!

Best collection for teaching age 4+ to read
I’ve been using Bob books to teach my kiddos to read (starting at age 4) for 10+ years. I’m on kid 3. They build upon each other and unlike lots of other beginner reading books there are no words that are too big for beginners. I highly recommend. Have your kids read to you and their stuffed toys. Remember half the battle is memorizing words so it will seem like they are just remembering what the picture is and not actually reading but that is part of the process. Eventually when they are ready you can cover the pictures before they see the page.

Great for my preschooler to practice on while big sister works on tougher books
My 6 year old is JUST learning to read, and gets practice books from school about once a week (til she masters them). My 4 year old felt left out (and was guessing at words while her sister sounded them out) so I bought these for little sister to have for her turn. The six year old really is more motivated by the stories in her books, these Bob books are SO simple there's not much plot, but it's enough to hold my 4 year old's interest long enough to get her thru the books. They are exactly what they are supposed to be, and I would recommend this set for any kid just learning letter sounds and such.

Great for starting readers
These books were recommended by our preschool teacher for daughter since she already knew what sounds the letters make. They have a set that they were letting us borrow but I wanted my own for summer and future kids. They're very simple and plain and perfect for very beginner readers. My daughter enjoys them because she's actually reading it herself. Definitely recommend this for starting readers.

Best book ever
Best best best prereading book for preschoolers. I got this collection for my 4 yo. I also bought Abeka, disney prereader, flyguy phonics. So far, this is the best. Once she got an idea, she progresses so fast. This book has so simple illustration, so it doesn’t distract my daughter much (Abeka is more colorful and so distracting). The sentences are so simple and rhymes well. I was frustrated of how to teach her to read, but Bob books solved it all. She now has much fun reading, even picks it up and reads by herself.
