Holi Hai! [Soundar, Chitra, Varma, Darshika] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Holi Hai! Review: Love This! - Gauri and her family pick which colors of gulal each family member will prepare to celebrate Holi. Gauri gets upset when she doesn't pick the color she wants. But when her family recounts the story of Prahlad, Gauri channels her inner Prahlad to be able to enjoy the celebration. Gauri's story makes the lessons of Prahlad's life - that love conquers evil, that having faith vanquishes weakness - relatable and applicable to kids today. Ironically, Gauri gets mad that she picks red, the color of anger. Finally, she turns inward to find love and faith. Her journey to tame her own anger, ask for forgiveness, and make amends is a symbol of a new beginning: spring. May we find the strength to sacrifice our weaknesses in the burning fire. May we each find our inner Prahlad. Happy Holi! Review: Wonderful story showcasing an important cultural tradition - There is so much to love about this book. The main character is so relatable. I can easily see my 7 yr old reacting exactly as the MC did when she didn't draw her preferred color for the annual tradition of assigning colors. I love how she refuses to participate in any of the preparations for the festival but then is drawn into the story that inspires it. And I love that she is in turn inspired by that story to reconsider her own response. The colors are so vibrant. I love how the art brings the traditions of this festival to life.
