Aurum Runner: A short story about a long run

A book of two Halves
The first part of the book was fascinating, and well written, keeping my attention with all of the details of the races and her struggles. However the second half of the book was poorly written and barely readable. Sentences were abrupt, with poor descriptors. And the last few chapters were a descriptor of what lessons have been taken away from running. Some might find that interesting, however it felt very repetitive and sadly not as well written as the first half at all.

Good but not great
An amazing runner and a deep thinker with a sophisticated philosophical outlook. But she’s also pretty private about her challenges and vulnerabilities, which makes for a limited autobiography. ‘I made sacrifices’ in order to be a professional athlete, she says, but doesn’t explain what the sacrifices were. She’s generally light on detail with hardly any vignettes or colour about the people and places she experienced. She keeps a lot to herself and it gets a bit boring by the end of the book.
