I love the color and way these pens write. The big problem I have is that they are expensive as pens go, and I consistently have them break on me, making them unusable. I've had this issue with other colors of the Energel model as well. What happens is that the barrel inexplicably cracks slightly, so the two halves of the pen don't stay screwed together and spring apart in your hand. It's not every single pen, and it's not immediately, but I have had it happen more often than not, and it's extremely wasteful and frustrating for the high cost.

Let me start out by saying that this is a great pen! Let me also say I can’t believe the number of people that are complaining about minor things with this pen. People, this is a $2.15 pen when bought by the dozen. Of course it’s not going to last for months on end. If you want a pen that will last longer, but the 0.5, it will last nearly 3 times as long. The 1.0 lays down a beautifully even thick coat of water-based ink that doesn’t smudge. I prefer the 1 mm because it has a rich broad stroke and very smooth writing characteristics. These are Japanese designed pens, made in Japan. For those that complain about the price, there are plenty of Chinese made pens for half the money or less that will write the same letters and numbers without the smooth flow of quality ink you get in Japanese or German pens. This is an ergonomically designed pen with extremely high-quality ink that flows smoothly and doesn’t smudge.

I've been using Energel RTX 0.7mm (METAL TIP) liquid gel ink pens and replacements for years - very fluid writing experience, dries fast and NEVER leaves lefties covered in ink. This is also my very favorite color - could only find a good deal on a whole box - hope they will provide reasonable ink refills in time. This color is DIFFERENT than either the turquoise or blue - Sky Blue is the Goldilocks version. Please note that if you want a smooth writing experience, be very careful to ONLY purchase the METAL TIP version (not the other one not so lefty friendly like this one)… This is the ONLY pen type I ever buy, and I keep them stocked for working from home (a box of refills lasts a good long time too) - when you can find them. Note: Each refill has a plastic-dipped tip to help them from drying out.

I used Zebra Sarasa 1.0 Black pens for well over 20 years. It was the best inker out there. But, then around 2009 they switched their manufacturing from Japan to Mexico. Nothing against Mexico but the quality of the ink flow dropped dramatically. I called Zebra when yet another box of 12 pens had 3 to 5 that just simply refused to work properly. They sent me a free dozen but with a "Who cares what you think of our product" attitude. Rude lady she was. Really. I guess product loyalty means nothing to some companies anymore. Well, guess what Zebra, you lose. I've spread the word about you for all this time but no more. Perhaps this is why I stopped being able to find your pens in Walgreens or any other store anymore?Point is, after tons of research, I decided to try Pentel. This particular pen suits my need for smoothness perfectly. Zero skipping. And a nice 1.0 thickness. Thanks Pentel for catching me and keeping me writing.

The Energel pens shipped out and arrived on time.Shipped in a mailer envelope.This is my 4th 12 pack of the .07 Metal tip Energel pens.The pens write very smooth, not much drag. Ink dries very fast and rarely ever a smudge.Nearly every pen will drain down to 0 ink before it quits.I wouldn't ever use a different pen after using these.I have only had a problem with one pen so far.The pen that messed up was well used, it had maybe 1/4 of the ink left and it started to leakout of the tip and then just quit working.Great pens and I would recommend them to anyone.

These pens write great. They tend to get loose and start coming apart, so you have to tighten them back up. The worst thing that happens with MOST retractable pens like this, they get "sticky" and you have to tap them or work the pushbutton etc to get them to either retract or engage. That's not a terrible thing, but I was hoping that the "metal tip" would help with this issue, and it did not. LolGreat pen in the rest of the unit. I write a LOT and it seems to have only used a little bit of ink so far in 2 or 3 weeks.

I’m not sure what happened. These used to be my lefty go-to pen. Minimal ink transfer from page to hand. Easy to hold. Ink was clear and bold. Now I have to find a new pen that’s great for lefties. The barrel on these pens will randomly split, and when that happens the pen is no longer usable, as the two pieces will no longer screw together tightly. No longer worth it to buy these. So sad.

This are my favorite pens. They write smooth and are ergonomic. You get a constant stream of ink until the almost the last drop. I’ve been using them since 2014 and I refuse to write with anything else. They are a little bit pricier than your average gel pens but you pay for great quality.

I love these pens! Have been using the darker green for some time and have now tried the Lime Green, Violet, and the Pink. They are beautifully smooth writers, and I love that they are retractable and have a pocket clip. No lid to keep taking off and replacing and no accidental writing on my sleeves or clothing!They are refillable and the only tiny negative is that if you write on slightly glossy paper the ink is prone to smudging if you brush/knock against it before it has had time to dry. On normal paper it dries instantly.

I love the gel ink and its my favourite colour. Writing in my notes or journal each day with such a lovely pen is a pleasure and I bought a bulk pack so there is always one handy!!

Love the smooth writing of these pens. They last a reasonable length of time too.
