British spies that are nothing like Mr. Bond
I read the adventures of Tommy Hambledon long before I picked up my first Ian Fleming tale back in the 1960s, so am quite happy to find Cyril Coles' family re-releasing the stories he wrote with Adalaide Manning.

A Post WWII Adventure
Tommy Hambledon is almost a secondary character in this book which begins in a quiet village with a character named James Hyde. 50-something Hyde has inherited a fortune and longs for adventure. As usual, Manning Coles has created an interesting story with wonderful British humor. I thoroughly enjoyed this reprint of a vintage mystery.

I love Tommy Hambledon!
Just recently re-discovered him, and am buying all the books. Funny thriller--sort of a combination of James Bond and PG Wodehouse. Would make a GREAT movie, with Fry and Laurie playing Forgan and Campbell.

Not one of the better Hambletons
Yes, they're uneven in quality. This isn't one of the best ones. It's OK, but it's not great like some of the others.

Fun WWII era spy novel!
We really enjoy the humor and intrigue of this WWII era spy/detective novel. We are big Manning Coles fans, especially "Toast to Tomorrow" and "Green Hazard."

1940 spy story
This is a favorite spy story. I read it over again on a regular bases. It stays fresh. Mr manning was a spy him self.

Perfect writing duo
Apart from a few of the Manning Coles thrillers which proved very expensive, I have managed to accumulate a library of 17 Tommy Hambledon adventures. I read them again and again and enjoy the plots and amusement which these two writers delivered. If you enjoy well thought out thrillers with some amusing anecdotes and no gratuitous sex and violence, Tommy Hambledon is for you. British to the core. Amazon have various suppliers who will supply many if not all of the Manning Coles books as well as the Tommy Hambledon stories.
