Batman the Long Halloween

A noir of an actual mystery
This is a mystery, there are no two ways about it. The long halloween follows the story a holiday themed killer who systematically kills members of both mob families, however the true story is the creation of two face. Jeph loeb(batman hush) spins Gordon, Batman and Harvey Dent together in trilogy, demonstrating their symbiotic relationships and eventual friendships. Told beautifully with tim sales terrificly drawn ugly mobsters in pinstripe suits and sprawling slums, a mystery that actuallykeeps you guessing and adds new life to the dried up genre of mystery and is more than deserving of your 20 bucks

Kill me on Halloween...
I read this book on Halloween...and you can imagine the excitement the original series generated when fans waited 13 months to catch up with the conclusion. What is great about this book is that it is a cool detective story in which the murders are central in the plot. Batman is still raw as he attempts to shed some "dark" light on the matter. The Batman regular enemies embelish the novel in a nice way... & Catwoman remains a puzzle for the readers & her involvement is somewhat strange & incoherent. Being a long-time admirer of murder mysteries & a student of the Agatha Christie school I saw through the plot, but however you guess you'll have a surprise at your hand at the end. Very good stuff, inferior to the work of Frank Miller but retaining the taste, nice drawings that replace words...& a dark atmosphere that really suits the Caped Crusader.

Excellent
This is an excellent primer and introduction to the rogues' gallery of the Batman universe. The artwork and story are impeccable, though I preferred the non-hero/villain character art present in Batman: Year One, as the style for non-costumed folks is a little too anime for my tastes. The hero/villain art is AMAZING in places, and excellent in all others. If you've found yourself watching the Chris Nolan films or playing the Arkham Asylum/City games and wondering about the background to those stories/characters, you'll find a handy primer here. The story itself deals with the corruption of Harvey Dent and has a few twists and turns, particularly towards the end. Personally, I saw the reveal from very early on, but it didn't dampen my enjoyment at all.

Batman the Long Halloween ( New Edition)
I have read many reviews about batman the long halloween first edition of the quality of the book itself. but with the new edition ( a dark blue cover with the title running along the side). the new edition is excellent quality and i have had this copy for many months the book and have had no problem with this copy. with all other reviews i have read, they all say =, as i that the story is excellent and it is one of the best batmans i know of. the art work however may not be to every ones tastes but if you are a batman fan then this should not diminish your enjoyment of this story, and this is why i gave this ( the New Edition) 4 stars.i hope this review was helpful, thanks for reading my review.Batman - The Long Halloween (New Edition) Batman - The Long Halloween (New Edition)Batman - The Long Halloween (New Edition)

Greatest Batman Story Told
In my opinion, The Long Halloween is the greatest Batman story ever told, as well as the greatest comic book I have ever read. The Long Halloween was the primary source of inspiration for the amazing Christopher Nolan film, The Dark Knight and exceeds even that in quality. Featuring many of Batman's greatest villains including the Joker, the Riddler and Two-Face, this story is definitely worth a read. Also check out Dark Victory, its sequel.

Suited to fans of the Nolan movies
This is a really good read. It's a whodunnit based around a killer called Holiday who takes out various members of the Falconi and Maroni families and incorporates the Two-Face origin story.Nolan took a lot of the feel of this and incorporated it in Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. The artwork is also great with Batman depicted in all his weightlifter physique glory.

A classic
What the Godfather is to film, the long Halloween is to graphic novels, not just Batman graphic novels but to me, comics in general. The Tim Sale art work is perfect for this, it fits so well. To me this is essential Batman reading, an unmistakeable epic.
