Mastering Palo Alto Networks

You need basic understanding of firewalls if you are going to purchase this book. If you don't have basic knowledge of firewalls, then you need to look somewhere else. Writer directly started from the Palo Alto firewalls and no information about basic structure/functionality of the firewalls. Keep only this thing in mind.

This book doesn't really make one a master, the title is misleading. I'd say it covers the fundamentals.

This book is one of the greatest books on Palo Alto Firewall. I loved it.

I have been a Palo Alto NGFW admin for several years (4 devices)I wanted a book for PanOS 10 rather than the online training provided by Palo Alto.This book is not well thought out. Definitions are lacking, the Index is poor and the book leaves out clear navigation when moving from subject to subject. You are directed into a subject; figures are displayed but many times, not where in the GUI these figures are displayed from. If a person is not accustomed to the PanOS layout, it is infuriating to find where the book is taking you in the GUI, especially if the reader is not doing a page-by-page study but may be jumping around the book for a specific topic. And most annoying is the explanation of functions, processes and concepts.

Ordered the book to help prepare for the PCNSA and PCNSE exam but the material in the book of very generic since it’s not produced by Palo Alto and can’t get into specifics on things like the Single Pass Parallel Processing architecture or User-ID and other core concepts from the Palo wants you to learn them.Is good as a generic switching book but wouldn’t recommend it for preparing for the PCNSA or PCNSE exams.

I was a bit hesitant at first to purchase as I have a few years of PAN-OS management experience.However, this book is a great resource and covers what’s necessary for day to day challenges.I particularly enjoy how organized the materials are.Cheers.
